I Forgot How Good Some Early VOY Eps Were!

I think that the second season was the best of the first three .Neelix was his best when he first arrived on Voyager on Caretaker.Who can forget him taking his first bath and pigging out by eating all that food. That was a riot.

My favorite Neelix moment is in The Cloud when he says "These people are natural born idiots!" He had a little more edge to him in the earlier eps. It's too bad that disappeared over time. I think more people would've liked him if they'd kept that more snide side of his personality.

^^^ Yeah, it would have been interesting to see how the show turned out. I for one, though, do not miss the Kazons or Seska...I never found them to be interesting...just poor mens' Klingons.
The Kazon were nothing like the Klingons.

They acted like it. Very warrior/domination oriented in culture (or lack thereof)...seemed kinda dumb, like they weren't mentally ready to be exploring space and just happened upon the technology somehow....even the dark skin color, weird makeup/hair remind me of Klingons.

So when you take all that into account, they're more like Klingons than any other race I've seen in Trek.
Interesting.

I myself never saw them as similar.

I see the Klingons as more like Samauri with their rituals and codes of honor. Klingons are agressive in nature but for the ones we've seen (Martok, Gowron, Kor, Koloth too name a few)aren't bad people.

The Kazon on the other hand seemed more like mobsters/Mafia too me. They were protective of their clan and terriory. All they ever fought about was for a bigger "piece of the action". If you joined the clan/family, you grew in power. If you sided against the clan/family, I "hit would be put out on you and your entire clan.

That's just how I saw them both.

^^^ You're right in pointing out that Klingons and Kazon are nOT identical, even though they're both aggressive races. There are lots of aggressive races in Trek and no two are exactly the same.

HOWEVER, just THINK about it. For some reason (don't ask me why) Klingons were ALWAYS popular in Trek. Just look at TNG & DS9 - Klingons everywhere!!! But w/ Voyager, they couldn't use Klingons AGAIN and besides, DS9 was doing the heavy Klingon storylines...so what's the next best thing - make a bad-guy alien race who walk and talk and look like Klingons!

In other words, a violent race that never ACTUALLY hurts anybody.

Got it.

Actually, I've been a member here for like 7 years. I should really have allot more but yes, I'm all about the crazy Trek love.

Honestly the real truth is, I'm an accountant by day and my job is so boring I spend my "down time" posting here.

Exodus,

So, you're an accountant, eh? Then account for yourself!

My own two cents about the Kazon is, first, they weren't very impressive bad guys. They did bear some resemblance to Klingons, but because of their clan structure, I always saw them as tribal types who managed to acquire the Trabe's technology. Their rituals also made them seem like a bunch of rival street gangs, too. One of the most ridiculous things about their appearance was the hairstyle -- they looked like Christmas-tree Rastas!

Now the Hirogen were good villains!

How about not the correct forum for this. :p

Exodus can't help it -- he was dropped on his head a few too many times as a child, so he "ain't right!" But thanks for the friendly warning, Akiraprise.

One of my favorite earlier episodes is on Spike tonight, Distant Origins. I thought it was exceptionally good.

One of my all time Voy. favorites.

It's a good take off on "Planet Of the Apes".

Is that the one where they come across a race of humanoid lizards that turned out to be descended from Earth's dinosaurs, or something like that? -- RR
