We wouldn't be talking about it a year after it was published either. The book wasn't totally bad, I actually did like the Seven of nine plotline. The problem I had was that the new characters acted like idiots. Now the admirals being idiots I am used to it because they were always biased when it came to Picard. I really didn't have a problem with Janeway's death, she died (depending on if she was really dead when Q grabbed her) saving the world.

Janeway hasn't been part of the Voyager crew for quite some time at the point.

And for the millionth time: he wasn't the one deciding to kill of Janeway, so even if anyone else had written Before Dishonor the end result would have been the same (but we probably would have gotten a less enjoyable book).

A less enjoyable book? Would steel spikes have popped out of the page and pierced my eyes or something? This was the book that ended my reading of Peter David. He's been on a downward slide for a while but this one took a drop off a cliff.

That's your opinion and that's fine, I on the other hand enjoyed Before Dishonor very much (and actually think it's better than the sort of predecessor Vendetta).

And regarding the characterizations of the new crew members: In my opinion it's not Peter David's fault that Margaret Clark didn't do her job properly when working with the respective authors of the relaunch to keep the characterizations straight, nor is it his and Keith's responsibility to do her job.
