I Am Suspected Of Shoplifting. You're KIDDING?!

go in there with your backpack full of stuff sold in the store, but bought elsewhere with a reciept. then randomly move around as much stuff as possible on the shelves.

once you are removed from the store for being a nuisance, stand outside and start singing 'call me maybe' and while shitting into your hand. this will totally solve everything.

LOL!! Brilliant!!

The girl's getting a reprimand? Uhh, so much for getting her number :sigh:

I never informed my dad about much of anything. He could find a way to embarrass us easily enough without me leading him into opportunity like that

My father would never have done something like that. He would assume (correctly) that I was perfectly able to sort it out myself.

Given the tone of the original post and some of the assumptions made...and the apparent unwillingness to cut this problem off at the source from the beginning...if I was the OP's father I might not be willing to make such an assumption.

1st time the Cashier mentioned it, I'd laughed it off. When she asked me to set the bag aside I'd asked to see the General Manager-- right then-- on duty and I would have had the conversation with the manager with the Cashier present.

That could have been fun. Tell the girl you are a master thief. That there are the fixings for a five course meal in your backpack, etc.

The best part of this story is how how you could have spoken with the manager yourself and cleared this up rather easily, but chose not to.

Agreed. Or just dropped it if it wasn't a huge deal. I have this general strategy about a variety of situations. First, try to shrug it off. If it's a big deal and you really can't let it go, it's better to be honest about that. Do something constructive to resolve the situation. If it isn't a big deal, you drop it and don't go around complaining about it.

You are right, of course. I should have nipped it in the bud with management when they first made the insinuation.

Uncalled for.
