I have the 10 DVD box set, and Nemesis is the one movie I've never taken out of the box, surprise surprise
But I will give it a chance again, since I'm stoked from watching ST IX 3 times now
Stay tuned for my report![]()
Ok, the intro was decent. The powerdive into the Romulan Homeworld was great!
The size of the Senate didn't bother me. What did bother me is that, they see this green energy ribbon thing open up, and......do nothing! Just sit there and stare like imbecils. Do something you morons!!! Run!! or at least get a tricorder and scan the stupid thing!! Something!!!
The wedding scene is painful to watch. On one hand seeing the TNG crew again is a happy moment. On the other hand, the whole scene is so forced. I think particularly because WE don't feel the happiness of the Riker/Troi wedding.
I think they should have left the wedding 'till the end of the movie.
Brent Spiner has WAYYY too much make up!!! and the movie style contact lenses look horrible. They should have kept the TNG ones with the lighter yellow. The "shut up Data" joke was uncalled for and make no sense other than a cheap shot at the character.
Continuing on.....

I always thought the wedding scene was one of the best moments in the movie. The shut up joke was great because it was a casual gathering with a bunch of good friends drinking and clebrating. It was the kind of thing Picard would never say on the ship on duty but fits perfectly at the reception.
Almost all best men usually deliverr their toasts in the manner Picard did, slightly condescending, looking for a quick joke, even at the expence of someone at the table, at least until the actual moment when the glass is raised. Stewart actually nailed it in this scene.

Don't get me wrong. I'm not against cutting out the wedding scene. My problem is that the movie is asking us to care about the marriage of these 2 people with nothing to back it up. The only people that might enjoy it are fans of Riker/Troi.Plus it has some of the only times any character moments made it into the movie. Most of the other ones were cut.
Wow!!! 27 mins into the movie and we're still waiting to see some action here!!

What they needed to do what something like this:
1. The intro was fine.
2. Have 2 starships, the Enterprise E, and the Titan. Have the Titan be a Galaxy Class Ship under Riker's command. We get to see Riker command a ship AND us that love the Galaxy Class (and hated its destruction in Generations) would have been pleasantly surprised.
3. Have them go straight away into the mission to Romulus. Have them have all their conflicts and stuff. Perhaps put Deanna in mortal danger and have Riker save her? Or put both in Danger and have Picard save them? Then at the end of the movie, Riker and Deanna realize they need to do something they should have done ages ago, get married. Data doesn't die, and they get to have their wedding scene at the end of the movie, and Data can even sing his geeky song. The movie would have ended on such a positive note it would have rivaled First Contact in quality.
Just an idea![]()
I think they already established that Riker and Troi were getting back together in Insurrection. Their relationship was introduced in the very first episode so this was a culmination of 15 years.
