I am diseased!

Well, from what I've been reading, warts are simply a viral infection, usually caused by a strain of HPV. You can be infected for several years before anything ever comes of it. So honestly, trying to determine the cause of a wart is potentially a great waste of time. We are exposed to various strains of HPV all the time, and there can be many factors that contribute to whether you succumb.

I had some warts on my feet when I was a teenager (caught from sharing a shower with three sisters - not at the same time, perverts). One of them had to be frozen off by a doctor, which is pretty painful. The other I got rid of myself using wart remover, but it took a LONG time. Like, way more treatments than they said it would. It wasn't nearly as painful as when the doctor froze the other one off, but it was a slight burning sensation. I used the Freeze Away stuff I believe (Dr. Scholl's brand).

Yeah, had the same thing happen to me when I was younger, and I had to have many treatments like you. I didn't just have mine frozen off though, but it had to be surgically removed as the root was deep and I have a scar on the bottom of my foot as a result. The worst part was after the surgery as I had to soak my foot in salt water until it healed. From what I hear, Plantar's warts are fairly common. I don't even remember how I got them though.

The two of you are being added to the quarantine.

^

The reason I believe I caught the warts from my sisters is because they all had Plantar warts as well, just before I got them. It seems that, especially among teenagers, they can be pretty contagious.

But where did your sisters get them?!
From some planter, I presume.

(Yes, I know it’s “plantar” warts, meaning on the sole of the foot.)

I tried some of that freeze-off stuff — not for warts, but for skin tags. Didn’t do shit. With skin tags, it’s much easier to simply cut the ugly things off. Doesn’t even hurt that much.

I had one on my finger a couple years ago, I found it distressing because other than that I am perfect, so I cut it off with a knife and gouged the roots right out and it never came back.

Well, the feet warts are spread easily through the sharing of shoes. Being teenage girls, I'm sure much of that was going on. But I see where you're leading...besides catching it from someone else, how does one get them? I guess I should mention that this is Type 1 HPV and is not transmitted sexually. Wikipedia, the source of all truth, tells me that "infection typically occurs from moist walking surfaces such as showers or swimming pools. The virus can survive many months without a host, making it highly contagious." But where does it actually originate? Personally I think an alien species came down and infected a host in order to plague the entire Earth population, very similar to The Event.

HAHAHA

Yeah guilty pleasure, I love friends.
The program that gave the world Ultimate Fireball is no guilty pleasure. A fine sitcom that the cool kids loved to bash on for reasons that utterly elude me.

Anyway, papillomviruses are a viral family completely misunderstood by the public, so I wouldn't go around telling people "I've got the HPV!"

I have a wart on my right hand that been with me for as long as I remember. Nowadays, it's pretty small due to my bad habit if biting on it... :p

I have tried to get rid of it a few times. It always comes back, so I guess that I'm not patient enough (I've used something you apply daily with a brush and then wait a few month while the wart burns away).

Awwww, but at least I have company!

Ah, so this is why they tell you to wear shower shoes in college. I never knew it was to prevent HPV!
