I am diseased!

RoJoHen

Awesome
Admiral
I have been stricken with the Human Papillomavirus!

I had no idea that warts were caused by HPV. About 3-4 months ago, a little wart started to grow on two of my fingers, and I couldn't figure out why. I had never had a wart before.

I mentioned it at work, and my colleague starting googling warts, and after much research, we discovered that I apparently have HPV.

I realize it is not HPV of the sexually-transmitted variety, but it still makes me feel dirty. I bought some Freeze Away and am going to attempt to destroy these warts tonight. I just hope this doesn't spread to my cervix. :shifty:

I'm sorry, RoJoHen, but in light of your self-acknowledged diseased status you must be removed from the presence of others and quarantined at once. Now get in the bubble.

I have news for you. You have ALL been exposed!

Apparently HPV (over 100 strains!) is all over the place, and most people get infected without ever showing signs or symptoms.

Someone get the flamethrower! It's the only way to slow this thing down.

Okay, so I bought that Freeze Away stuff and applied it to the warts, but I don't really feel anything. Isn't it supposed to burn or something?

I'm pretty sure if you feel a burning sensation, you have more than just HPV.

Oh. Oh. You mean on the warts! :shifty:

I dunno.

I had some warts on my feet when I was a teenager (caught from sharing a shower with three sisters - not at the same time, perverts). One of them had to be frozen off by a doctor, which is pretty painful. The other I got rid of myself using wart remover, but it took a LONG time. Like, way more treatments than they said it would. It wasn't nearly as painful as when the doctor froze the other one off, but it was a slight burning sensation. I used the Freeze Away stuff I believe (Dr. Scholl's brand).

Remember, though, that this was on the bottom of my foot, so a sensitive area. I would imagine it would not feel as intense when applied to fingers. I had Plantar warts, which are a little different from other warts (more painful and caused by different things), so it's not quite as comparable.

Yeah, had the same thing happen to me when I was younger, and I had to have many treatments like you. I didn't just have mine frozen off though, but it had to be surgically removed as the root was deep and I have a scar on the bottom of my foot as a result. The worst part was after the surgery as I had to soak my foot in salt water until it healed. From what I hear, Plantar's warts are fairly common. I don't even remember how I got them though.
