Hysperia in Strange New Worlds?

Mike Doyle

Commander
Red Shirt
There are a lot of shots in the new trailer that look like they could be set in a swords and sorcery realm, could it be they're visiting (or maybe First Contacting) Billups homeplanet?

If they are on Hysperia they could encounter Billups Ancestors without it being a massive coincidence seeing as they are the Royal Family.

It seems like it could be Hysperia, for sure, but not first contact, as it’s referred to as having been colonized by humans. It would be rad to see a direct connection to LD on SNW!

‪‪I figured it could also be Rigel VII, where Pike had his prior trauma, and it was shown to have a castle filled, somewhat medieval aesthetic.

Wasn't there a world mentioned in Trek that had legit dragons? I recall they did a novel about it too.
Berengaria VII. Referenced in "Bound" in ENT when they were looking to set up the first starbases.

"200 meter flying reptiles..."

Methinks that Vulcan survey team found some funny herbs or magical mushrooms for their plomeek soup.

I would have expected Hysperia to require a higher level of tech than the TOS era had, or things like the planet in Shore Leave would seem less miraculous to Kirk and company.

We're WAY past that. Look at Will Riker being amazed by the holodeck in TNG when Discovery had one in their first season, over a century before.

They may, at some point in the episode featuring the historical costumes and swordplay, be visiting such a world. The shots in the trailer, however, appear to be the Enterprise sets redressed with hanging vines, other foliage and so forth - mostly the corridors.

That ship sailed with Janeway mentioning the Flotter holoprogram she used as a child.

That, and the rec room in TAS S02E03 The Practical Joker, which was a holodeck.

I always assumed the race that got Trip pregnant in Enterprise who had holodecks over 2 centuries before TNG joined the Federation during the development of the Galaxy class, just in time to incorporate their superior holotech into the Enterprise Ds design. The holodecks before that were comparatively simple and primitive and not nearly as perfectly immersive.
