Hypothesis: Raffi was originally intended to be Ro Laren...

Even though we haven't gotten to the episodes in "Picard" yet and don't know how they're going to figure into the plot...isn't Seven of Nine supposed to be running around with a group of freedom fighting renegades or something? *IF* the showrunners wanted to bring in Ro for an appearance, I would imagine that the easiest route would be to have her involved with them somehow. Survived the Dominion, can't go back to Starfleet, but still out there fighting the good fight.

I think the crew of the La Sirena might actually end up joining the Ferris Rangers. All of them are Ex-Starfleet and left or were kicked out for a reason. So the Ferris Rangers would be the perfect alternative or them, given their background. Assuming it's not Ex-Drones Only.

In this case if Seven genuinely wanted Picard's help she'd hide Ro in a Jefferies tube or somewhere out of Picard's way as I doubt Picard would want anything to do with Ro.

Except Seven's turn against the Federation/Starfleet is supposed to be a result of anti-Borg bigotry she's been experiencing, and IIRC, the freedom fighters she's with are specifically meant to protect former Borg from persecution.
Kind of hard to insert Ro into that storyline.

I hope they toss in an off-the-cuff remark that Ro is dead. That way fandom can move on.

Yeah I didn't know any of that, lol. But yes, if that is the case, then it would be difficult to work Ro into that story.

The Anti-Borg angle reminds me of "Homecoming" from the VOY Relaunch. So this must be Kristen Beyer's alternate take on it. Even if she doesn't have writing credit for the episode, so must've suggested the idea.
