Huntress Class

We've seen in "Return of the Archons" that lighting panels can be thin and self-powered so applying that to the hull of a starship should be fairly easy, IMHO. So a self-illuminating registry makes sense to me. The only reason I think you get pushback is that the movies represents it with impossible spotlights. But it's your design so go with your own illumination :)

To be honest I'm not a fan of the Danube class myself.
Oh I have nothing against the Danube. It was fine for its role on the show. I just didn't think it was right for my show. :)
"glowing" traffic signs and stuff oren't really glowing, just reflecting yours (and others') lights really hard. i wonder if there's enough starlight in space to make that work.
The text on the Artemis doesn't glow by reflection - it is actually luminescent, however that would work in Star Trek. Light panels like we saw in 'Return of the Archons' maybe.
of course, i have also taken up the glowing registries thing, even if i can't seem to make deformers to have them stick to the hull work right. a while back i recalled a tutorial i saw, years ago, of using two layers of extruded text , with one in a dark material and the other in an emissive, with the emissive under the onnemissive. i believe the tutorial had the dark layer be bold, so the glow jst sort of edged around it, but i have tested and think it looks better the opposite.
I just used transparent textures. :)
I've had the thought that the registry font from the movies provides a great opportunity and compromise. The space between the letters and the outline can be glowing for dark environments, while the existing painted letters work for full sunlight.

That's way too much work. :p
