Humidifiers

Ok, so it's ball-shrinking cold right now as a result my furnace has been on almost constantly. Unfortuantly dry, cool, winter air doesn't do much for transfering heat from the atmosphere into the body. So I'm looking to get a humidifier to increase the comfort level of my apartment.

Anything I should look for or consider in buying a humidifier?

I'm no expert, and I say this in all seriousness (as in, I'm not trying to be a jerk here) ... what to look for in an humidifier? Probably that it humidifies. There really isn't much else to consider. Tank size maybe.

What is your tap water like? Hard water will cause a white dust to be put out, sometimes even if you have a filter. It will crap up the filter pretty quick too.

There's various add-in chemicals you can buy to prevent this, and to de-oderize as well.

Buy extra filters when you buy the unit, they like to discontinue replacement parts fairly quick.

Then there's the choice between hot & cold and misters.
