The way future humans have been portrayed in the new series (dunno about the old) makes me think that they function similarly to the Doctor's usual foes. They're an expansionist, violent race that grows to dominate and/or replace all other forms of life. Surprisingly, the Doctor admires them for it, mostly. Why is that? Is it racial pride, because he's half-human? Do Time Lords traditionally protect the course of human history because we, possibly, grow up to become them? Did the Doctor ever take on a force of us, or just random individuals? The (new) Day the Earth Stood Still (I know
) got me thinking in this direction...
