Saying there's a hump here is completely unwarranted.
There has been no species that aspired to Sargon-like powers, then seriously and realistically strove for them, and then failed to achieve them. At least, not on Earth, and least not any that left any evidence.
Nor has there ever been a need for species on Earth to possess Sargon-like abilities in order to survive.
We're very most likely the first species ever to arise on Earth that possesses even just the concept of godlike powers, and we certainly have enough gall, if not hubris, to try to seek it out. Check back in a million years, before calling our present state of affairs stuck on the wrong side of a hump.
