My thoughts exactly. I dont even have the time to watch what I have. Comedies go by fast because they are only about 25 mins per episode. I have only watched Lost in Space, Bewitched and Angel through twice. I only got stuff I would probably watch again. Some of the collections I see here are the result of over indulgence.

You are assuming we are RE-watching episodes we have already seen. Which is not necessarily the case.

I have so little free time that I watch almost everything on DVD - rarely watch anything in real time. I simply do not have time to live my life around a TV schedule, and I forget to set my DVD recorder so often that even when I try, I end up getting behind and giving up.

Which is why, for example, I have nuBSG, nuWho, Lost, Heroes, Boston Legal, CSI-Miami, Bones, NCIS, and Smallville on DVD, but you hardly ever see me in those threads/forums.

It's because I watch most shows for the first time on DVD...so I'm always a year behind.

Pretty much everything in my collection that is post-2000/2001 or so except for the first two seasons of Enterprise I've watched for the first time on DVD. And anything that would require premium channels (HBO, Showtime, etc) will absolutely be watched for the first time on DVD as well as I don't subscribe to those channels, since I would never get my money's worth. I watched Sex and the City, The Sopranos, and Dexter 100% on DVD as they were all aired on premium channels. And yes - I have watched every single episode of those shows.

For me, DVD is faster (no commercials - not even to FF through), less hassle (don't have to keep track of changing schedules, hiatus breaks, etc and you don't have to remember to set the recorder) and saves time trying out new shows that turn out to be crappy. I let everyone else be my 'taste testers' and don't bother with anything that doesn't get good 'reviews' from people I trust. Plus, I can fit DVDs into MY schedule - not watch any episodes for weeks and then watch 4 in one night if I have the time.

So...before you make judgments and assume that those of us with large collections either a) don't watch our DVDs or b) have no life....think again.

The only 'down-side' (if you could call it that) is that I can't participate in the on-line drama and constant arguments that occur right after episodes of the shows as they air. But from what I've seen in those threads, I'm not missing much.

Okay...so I'm off to watch an episode of Lost....season 4.

Love watching television on DVD, and usually I watch these more than films. I can usually fit one into my day, whereas longer films are watched on a weekend. I especially enjoy watching a series all the way through with my girlfriend, who sometimes gets into them more than me.

I think all these releases are really good. I wish Dexter had some more interesting extras, but since it's a current show I give it a pass. Most of the others are pretty nice editions though, with Twin Peaks and M*A*S*H being the most satisfactory, with feature length documentries. It's also cool that the new Lynch "lime green set" looks good next to my Peaks "definitive gold box".

Speaking of M*A*S*H, you guys have the huge complete series set, right? It's really high quality and affordable, but is anyone else annoyed by the cardboard sleeve packaging? you have to be really careful with it.

How do people actually find the time to watch all of those shows?

My nephew and I watch a handful of the various toons in my collection at least once a week; it's alot better watching some of that instead of Chowder or SpongeBob or whatever other crap that airs these days (and plus, most of what I'm showing he hasn't seen before). I'm about to repeat the process with my brother's new baby coming in August.

The live action shows I only watch every now and then when I'm in the mood; I tend to pull out a series and go through it over the course of a few weeks. The reason I have them is because they either don't air any longer (such as Farscape and Sliders) or they come on at odd hours (such as the modern Doctor Who on Sci-Fi Channel). Basically, I would rather have the option to watch them when I want to.

I'm left wondering why I own the last three series. The answer, of course, is that they were all gifts, but in the end, I find they have little re-watch value. If I could jettison a good lot of Sliders season 3 to save disc space, I wouldn't bat more than an eyelash over it. And I'm glad to own all of Babylon 5, but if I had to, I could part with everything but the five seasons of the show. Crusade, LOTR, and the Lost Tales are just incomplete. River of Souls is unwatchable.

I got the seasons individually as they were being released, so they're in the plastic cases with front and back "doors". I haven't seen what you're talking about, and I suppose I'm glad for that.
It's like with the Stargate SG1 set I did get, having to find a specific disk in that friggin' acordian packaging is a real pain in the ass.

An, no offense to anybody, but could we please list multiple seasons of the same series on the same line? Some of the individual posts are getting pretty long what with as many as 10 lines for the same show and whatnot.

Crikey, some people have a lot of DVDs. I find that even my small collection takes up more room than I'd like, so I put things in soft cases rather than the original boxes.

I have TOS, TAS, TNG, DS9, VOY 1-5, and the West Wing. I'll probably buy Buffy one day too.
