How would you re-imagine ENT's Klingon ships?

Icy_Penguigo's new Hyrdran Ranger threat got me to thinking:

If you could go back and redesign the Klingon ships used in STAR TREK: ENTERPRISE, what would you make them look like? How would you de-evolve them to look more like a prequel to TOS?

I would like to see what artists in this forum have created/sketched/thought about on this subject.

Masao's stuff is impressive, but I think there's another avenue worth considering:

Look at drawings of the Daedalus.

Now take that basic design, turn it upside down, and put the nacelle pylons closer to the rear. Give it some Klingon design cues and that could be an early Klingon starship.

Don't laugh. I see it as a neat possibility. :)

This was my idea of an early Klingon fuel transport. The big Graf units are meant to be midway between a propulsion ring and nacelles -- sort of a broken ring. The "K't'Inga-ish" detailing was meant to be a later addition.

The idea was that an old, abandoned transport was "appropriated" by one Kojiro Vance, who then used it for his own purposes... until the Klingons came looking for their stolen property.

The rest is history well known to Star Fleet cadets.

Keep the basic form, get rid of some of the surface detailing and make them smoother and grayish to suggest that perhaps the Federation 'borrowed' their hull technology after capturing one of their ships.

This is assuming we can't change the Enterprise along with them of course.

I liked the ENT Klingon ships for the most part. The only things I'd do is make the forward end of the nacelles less pointy, and make the Raptor have less glowy bits. That, and change the ship seen in "Unexpected" to either the concept drawn by Eaves or the D5 design.

This is my idea. Keep in mind that I unabashedly detest 99% of the show Enterprise(not everything; the mirror universe Tholian epsiode was pretty cool) and am not restricting myself to the design conventions established by that show.

This is sort of intended to be a 3D sketch if you will. The model itself isn't that great. I was just trying to get the basic concept across

That being said, here's my design:

I like it. But to me, while it does look less advanced than the D7s and the later K'Tingas, it still looks too advanced, at least to me.

It looks great. I especially love the externalized sensor dish; nice nod to the McMaster D7 blueprints. Do you have a specific idea for what those two vertical fins atop the shuttlebay are?

How do you put these things out so fast?

Thanks! The fins are intended to be additional radiators for the warp and impulse drives. The idea being that the cooling systems aren't as compact as they will be on later models.

Apart from that I just tried to make the shapes look less refined. More structural bracing on the boom, externalized sensor dish, larger impulse deck, etc.

If I had to go further with it, I would add a few more details. Large disruptor cannon mounts on the front of the warp engines. Laser turrets scattered around the hull. Probably some kind of extruding missile racks. Maybe an additional shuttlebay since it wouldn't have transporters. And some sort of obvious impulse engine on the boom that would be fired up in the event the boom had to seperate.

Basically, this ship would be highly unpleasant to live on. Living areas would be cramped to the extreme. Since the technology is less advanced, most of the vital equipment would be larger. That combined with the Klingon tendency to heavily arm their ships would make for extremely spartan living conditions once all that gear is shoe-horned in.

Thanks guys!
