How would the look of TOS have adapted to the 1970s?

Would the look of the 1970s have worked on TOS?

  • Yes! It would've been interesting to see TOS adapt to the new decade.

  • No! The 70s were ugly, and it would've changed the look of TOS too much.

Most of the Star Trek [Phase] II knowledge I have came out of researching Kaufman's Star Trek—The Motion Picture, which preceded it. Since the one project launched in the aftermath of the other, digging around about the movie yielded info on the TV show. Most of the photos of have of the sets for the TV show are common, but a few, like that corridor pic are not. I also found some photos of the sets under construction in the old Lincoln Enterprises newsletters. They're crappy quality, but some are revealing, so I should put them up someplace (and they'll be copied to Ottens 13.9 seconds later, haha).

I believe I have the same photos from the old Lincoln Enterprise newsletters of Majel Roddenberry standing on various half constructed sets. Unfortunately, the quality is lacking though I've been trying to clean them up a bit.
