How would Kirk have handled Q?

Neutral Zone

We ahve seen how Q has been handled by other captrains suchj as Picard and Janeway. But how would Kirk, Spock and the crew from TOS have handled his 'Madness'?

I could imagine Kirk trying to lock him in the brig behind a force field and Spock keep saying 'fascinating' and then try to mind-meld, which knowing Qhe would have done just to overload the Vulcan mind.

I had in mind to write a fan fiction where Kirk and crew have to deal with "a" Q, not "the" Q from TNG, however she, yes she, would behave almost similarly to the original Q, and this encounter would lead into the whole trial thing from 'Encounter at Farpoint'. Maybe one day I'll finally sit down and write it.

1)Keep him busy till his parents show up
2)Take out his power source
3) Explain why humans don't need the Q.

Why, T'Girl, you've changed your hair! ;)

"You hit me. Picard never hit me!"
"And then you kneed me in the groin and gave me a flying butt punch (ala the episode 'Elaan of Troyius')! Even Sisko never did that! Screw you guys, I'm goin' home!"

Wasn't there something like that in 'Assignment Earth'? Gary 7 could almost be called a 'Q' he and his transmutating cat? Although he didn't remotely effect earths history but had to be there to do it. The 'Q' had to start somewhere?

To get to the question though I think a meld with a 'Q' would as had been mentioned be quite dangerous. Kirk on the other hand would have a very hard time dealing with a 'Q'. He is just beginning his 'Trek through the stars' so he basically hasn't scene anything remotely resembling a 'Q' (having the powers of a 'Q'). Spock and 'Q' would be a pretty good mental fist fight though as both are fast learners. The 'Q' could try to humiliate Spock into a fight. Spock would be there equal in many respects. A great deal greater then poor old LaForge. Levar is a great actor but the lines they gave him made him seem like a walking peach pit at times.

I think the slings and barbs with Spock still working hard to keep his emotions hidden would be a very interesting encounter indeed.

Kirk didn't like being pushed around. He didn't take any guff from Apollo, or Vaal, or Landru, or the Platonians, or Trelane, or any other 'superior' being. He would have stood up to Q. I can't see Kirk jumping through his little hoops.

Dude, that would be fun for ST XII! Kirk using his "diplomacy" on Q would be hilarious, and the ensuing Spock commentary on Kirk's repeated failures. Then Q would deliberately annoy Bones (since he's kinda easy to annoy).

Ah, that would be grand indeed!

Q would have liked Kirk right off the bat. Whatever task Q had set up, Kirk's solution would be so perfect (and merciful) that Q would be impressed, spare the Human race, and never be heard from again.

I Like the idea that Trelane was indeed of the Q; Who's to say that Trelane isn't just the same immature Q we saw on Voyager, just better dressed?

Kirk would do what Kirk always does--win whatever at all cost!

(And I tell my friends that if Jim Kirk shows up and tells you to do something, just do it. He's saving the universes, for Spocks sake!!)
