How will you react if the Klingon War Arc isn't wrapped up?

Obviously this is pure speculation, but how will you feel if the Klingon War isn't wrapped up this season and continues into the next? I never considered that would be the case until now. There's only one episode left to tie up a conflict that looks like an utter mess at the moment. A time travel reset button seems unlikely (and personally unwanted). Do you want to keep watching this arc a year from now? Are you looking forward to more traditional "exploration" arcs? Will anyone cut out all together if they don't get what they're expecting?

The show runners indicated in a recent article that one of the main themes of next season will be 'Science vs. Faith' and that they want to return the focus to optimism, hope and the ideal star trek is known for. I got the vibe from the article that the Klingon War wasn't really what the current show runners wanted to explore and it was more or less a hold over from the Bryan Fuller days. I'd point you in the direction of the article, but I can't remember what thread it was in.

In regards to the OP's question, I'd be severely disappointed if the war ran into next season. I'm ready to see some strange new worlds.

Thanks for the link. Okay - Science vs Faith is really quite a topical and rich theme, some of which I've seen in this present series. Be interesting to see the pros and cons of both frames of reference.

Same. One or two episodes, I'd get over. But the theme or main story of next year, no. I'm hoping for something a bit different, not focused on war with anyone. I don't want planet of the bumpy forehead of the week tales wrapped up in forty minutes, but I'd love a longer story of exploration.

I love good planet of the week stories. A series with a moral center like Star Trek can really stretch its legs in that setting.

I wrote about that in my midseason verdict. The writers have to know how dumb and uninteresting their Klingons are because they barely spend any time with them. That's been reenforced by spending the second half in a universe where they're barely an issue.

Did we just agree on something? Maybe there is hope I'm up for such a possibility of entertaining that whole faith or spirit based 'world' view with, in conjunction AND opposed to a science/science fiction focus. It doesn't have to be preachy or an all or nothing win at all costs lesson. Probably would be best as a theme of co-existing. We shall see.

I really miss seeing strange new worlds and yeah if it's over a couple of episodes that would be okay.

Yeah, I agree if one or two episodes are required to wrap things up, that's fine but anything more than that and I'll probably tune out. I think the major flaw of this season, was that it was too war heavy. DS9 did it right by giving us stories that focused on the dominion war but also stories that focused on character relationships or individual missions. If season 1 had a couple more episodes like 'Magic to make the sanest man go mad' or 'Si vis pacem, para bellum' (without the Klingon war connections) it would probably have made the war story arc a bit more easy to digest for a lot of people. Adding to that I feel that the trip to the mirror universe gave the show a a refreshing new energy.

I'm feeling quite peckish for some way-out-there-five-year-mission type exploration. Like, give me some aliens that need to be condescended with Federation values or a doomsday machine or something next season
