They were assimilated quite a few years before, I would think. Wolf 359 would've been what, 8 years before Seven showed up on Voyager?
Seven was a drone for twenty years.

Wait a second... Are you hinting at something here??
This is how suspicious I am:

A bit morbid - but should he pass DURING the production of a season, I could see them retooling and continuing on to finish said season. If it's between seasons in pre-production of a new season, out of respect, they'd close up shop on STP.They could just rename it Star Trek: Seven of Nine and keep the remainder of the main cast with her taking over as captain.
If the show is a smash hit, I don't think they'll let a little thing like Sir Patrick's death dissuade them from finding some way to continue the existing story as much as is feasible.
Seven acknowledges Picard by his first name and appeared as if she knows him. I don't think Seven would acknowledge him that way if she didn't know him. I would think she would call him by his title or have a completely didn't response when she sees him. Meh, your point is possible.Y'know, one thing I'd never really considered, and upon some thought appears to have been overlooked by mostly everyone since the end of VOY: what if Seven stayed out of the limelight completely? What if, upon Voyager's return and the media storm and Starfleet debriefings that followed, Seven wanted to stay as low key as possible, and got out of town as soon as she could?
That would explain no meeting with Picard prior to this show, for one.

I've been wondering the same for a while now. I hope we see her at some point.Funnily enough, I’ve been wondering about Janeway’s role in this world a lot this morning.

Because she is still eye-candy.I'm curious as to why TPTB have always been so in love with Seven of Nine. She was designed to be hot-as-hell eyecandy all those years ago and she did that quite well. She even ended up being a decent character, played by a good actress. But geez, she's not even in the Top 50 best Trek characters. Yet they keep trying to shoehorn her into TNG stories that don't concern her. They tried to do it in Nemesis back in the day and now they're still at it.
Because she is still eye-candy.
Also, Jeri Ryan is a good actress who can bring a lot of ability to the role. But, eye candy is up on my list of reasons why...![]()
One thing is for sure. No matter how they treat or develop the character....approximately 50% of the fans will lose their minds and hate it.

She is a complicated character with a dark past...I'm still not convinced that was the only reason they brought her back.Merely being eye candy won't get you very far (look what happened to T'Pol).
Seven is a complicated character with a dark past.
Why not her? Hotness is subjective as taste and acting like she is some how no longer attractive is odd, to say the least.Do you know how many hot women there are in this world? Subjectively hotter than Jeri Ryan? How many have appeared on Trek alone? Why her?
She is a complicated character with a dark past...I'm still not convinced that was the only reason they brought her back.
Regardless, hopefully she brings the same level of character development as before. Because, frankly, Seven isn't enough to get me in to a show. In fact, it stacks against for me. Borg, Seven, are not huge interests for me.
That was good news indeed.I'm glad she's free of that ridiculous catsuit.
