How will the show treat Seven?

But Seven does acknowledge Picard in the trailer so they must've had some dealings with each other in his past... I'm guessing Starfleet but it may have been right after he quit Starfleet. Is it possible in this series we may see Seven's last harrah?
Before the interview posted above, I figured that they met at a weekly support group for people who were assimilated by the Borg.

Jeri Ryan has revealed some info about Seven’s time since VOY, and her relationship with Picard. Surprising turn of events.
:bolian:
...kind of sounds like she describes the current state of the world as we know it:
"The universe is a mess and I think she initially sees Picard as a representation of that. She's been working ... with sort of a group of freedom fighters called the Fenris Rangers who are trying to keep some semblance of order in the mess that is the galaxy."

Yeah this revelation by Jeri that Picard and Seven never met before this show actually makes less sense. Picard is one of the few people who escaped the Borg. He'd have been resource Number 1 in helping Seven rediscover humanity after she and Voyager returned to Earth.

But now we're told they never met in the 20 years since Voyager returned home? There'd better be an explanation for this.

Y'know, one thing I'd never really considered, and upon some thought appears to have been overlooked by mostly everyone since the end of VOY: what if Seven stayed out of the limelight completely? What if, upon Voyager's return and the media storm and Starfleet debriefings that followed, Seven wanted to stay as low key as possible, and got out of town as soon as she could?

That would explain no meeting with Picard prior to this show, for one.

There are trillions if not quadrillions of people in the Alpha Quadrant. Why should any two random people - even if both are "famous" - ever run into one another.

I guess there's a good argument to make for Picard not even wanting to cross paths with her, too. As we saw the last time he had any onscreen involvement with the Borg (First Contact), he still has PTSD surrounding his whole experience with them.

One would think that four years with Seven would've made the Voyager crew much better suited at helping Seven settle into her new environment, if that's what indeed happened.

So did the Federation become a totalitarian dictatorship???

I'm guessing it's more like all is well - more or less - within the Federation, but everything is a mess outside of it.

Maybe the Federation became isolationist after the Romulan refugee crisis. They took in a small number, and then sealed the border. Starfleet no longer explores - it just guards "the wall." The rest of the Alpha/Beta quadrants have gone to shit due to the political fallout of billions of Romulan refugees.

Or perhaps Picard is finally getting consequences for his Ahab behavior during First Contact. Ruthlessly shooting down assimilated crewmembers like Ensign Lynch ("It couldn't have been reversed." "How did you know? You didn't even try!"). That might give Seven second thoughts about talking to Picard. After all, it's clear now if Picard found her instead of Janeway, he'd have just shot her down too.

Isn't it doubtful that Seven would even know about that? By that argument, she would have an issue with every Starfleet officer who had chosen to shoot a drone dead, rather than helping it to leave the collective?

Fair enough. A better explanation might be that Picard pulled a "Ceti Alpha V" on Hugh and his group and never checked up on them, and Seven blames him for that. This might be the actual explanation.

She may well have wanted to hide.

She may well have wanted to isolate herself somewhat in order to work out her issues (She'd just spent the previous twenty-four years being surrounded by people 24/7. She needed a breather.)

I agree, especially in light of how much Janeway supported her in her return to humanity. If Picard avoided liberated drones due to guilt or PTSD as @Blooded surmised above, then I find it totally plausible they never personally met and that Seven blames him for the predicament the ex-Borg find themselves in. I am still speculating "Synths" is a pejorative blanket term for Andorids, Holograms and Borg.

Quick question, were the Hansen's assimilated before or after Wolf 359? Curious if while Picard and Seven haven't literally met, is it possible they figuratively met via the Collective?

They were assimilated quite a few years before, I would think. Wolf 359 would've been what, 8 years before Seven showed up on Voyager?

You know if Seven hates Starfleet I wonder what she thinks of her old "Voyager" family. If Janeway is a Admiral I am guessing she must not be to pleased with her either for her role in things.

Funnily enough, I’ve been wondering about Janeway’s role in this world a lot this morning. Looking forward to more people having watched the show, so that I can discuss it properly haha

She's in temporal prison for her time crimes.

Wait a second... Are you hinting at something here?? :shifty:
