I just don't see him ever intending to do more than one season..
He just started filming on the second season of The OA (good show, btw). Why would he have issues being in a second season on the OTHER show he's in?

true, but Isaacs has a huge fandom from HP already where he can sell his autograph till kingdom comes, that alone can't be the reason in his caseI don't think anyone knows the full story on what actors were told by Brian Fuller vs what actually happened. I think as an actor though he has to be pretty proud of his performance. Honestly he stole the spotlight from episode 3 on.
As for movie work. a show is guaranteed pay. Startrek is a guaranteed fanbase. For better or worse, most of these folks like the attention or they wouldn't be actors. Long after new roles stop being offered, you still get to sell your autographed photo for a few bucks to people who will adore you till they're dust. For Isaacs its even better, he's "lorca" he still gets to be a dick with the fanbase, if he likes.
Andrew Lincoln was doing well enough before TWD, but he hasn't shown much interest in dropping the southern accent for a return to movies, either. I don't think we've seen the last of Lorca (or some version of him) but we'll see.
True. But moreso he's used to fans, already, and already liked Star Trek, so I'm guessing Discovery was not that hard a sell. His OTHER show is a streaming show that didn't even get any advertising. The OA just popped up on Netflix one day, without prior warning.true, but Isaacs has a huge fandom from HP already where he can sell his autograph till kingdom comes, that alone can't be the reason in his case
