Spoilers How will Season 2 work from a character continuity perspective?

I just hope all this doesn't result in the show no longer having to adhere to the continuity of the prime timeline. there were rumors before the show started it would end up being a reboot

Burnham dies in an another typical discovery cannibalism scene when she is mistaken for brunch
Lorca mind wipes anyone who may know his secret, heads back to Prime universe with his crew none the wiser, ends the war with the help of Pike and the enterprise and Lieutenant Kirk’s brave actions about the Farragut.
And they all live Happily ever after and do some exploring

greetings everyone, i am new here. so go easy on me. i am gonna go out on the ledge and say that we will see the Dr back in season 2, i also believe that we are gong to see staments/and Dr get married in the final episode called "will you take my hand?" i just get the impression that the writers wanna take things there and i think its cool. i have also noticed that on the discovery website on cbs they are not showing the title of the episode for some reason. i think they wanna try and keep this under wraps.

So here is what I think will (or want to) happen (of course it won't, 'cause what do I know...):

Lorca: Dies. Maaayyybeee Prime Lorca shows up somehow, but its unlikely.

Captain: New cast middle aged, not unknown character actor to replace Isaacs (gender would be irrelevant for me)

Burnham: gets rehabilitated with rank not fully reinstated, becomes Lieutenant & Discovery's Science Officer. I think her rise to captaincy will take the whole series, therefore hoping, that she becomes captain not before the start of the last season.

Saru: Stays XO, cause he did a good job in the MU, but isn't ready for the chair yet.

Stamets: saves the mycial network AND revives Doctor Culber with some timey-whimey / mumbo-jumbo space spore superpower stuff. This means, the spore drive stays for another season, although rarely used, before it gets destroyed by the inevitable canon-cannon.

Ash Voqler: Dies or ends up at Star Fleet Medical / jail.
After the trailer for the next episode, I thought, there's a chance, we get Prime-Landry as the new security officer, but after seeing the snippet from Aftertrek, it seems that the stupid person, that got herself killed by the tardigrade, was the PU-edition. So we will most likely get a new security chief in season two.

Dr. Culber: Lives. Stays. Big love story. So touching.

Tilly: graduates between seasons, comes back as ensign.

L'Rell: ends up in Federation prison or gets released to the Klingons as part of the peace negotiations. Either way, she'll be a recurring character.

Above that, we will hopefully meet the CMO and the CoE and get some more beef to minor bridge characters like Detmer, Airiam, Rhys and Owosekun.

Welcome and greetings. I'd like to see Culber come back. He was really the most ethical character on Disco, and we were just getting to know him, but I feel like he's done, now.

There was a medbet monitor of Stamets in one of the earlier episodes, that said 'Chief of engineering'. The writers later confirmed, that this was a production mistake. From that clarification I took away, that Stamets is NOT the CoE, but I have no problem with being corrected.

Memory Alpha, which solely chronicles Canon-based (onscreen) information, lists Stamets as Discovery's Chief Engineer with no mention of the graphic listing him as such having been dismissed as a "production error", and given how updated the site tends to be and how it has even been "sanctioned" or at least acknowledged by people involved with the Trek franchise directly, the omission of that "clarification" is pretty glaring and telling.

Responding to angry fans, CBS will freeze all character developement before the end of season one and season two will consist entirely of 42-minute reset Planet of the Week™ adventures where nobody suffers any lasting consequences for anything.

Well then, they'll have to try to tell a decent story with a beginning, middle and end that all have something to do with one another...won't they?

I really hope there will be no reset button. I wouldn't enjoy the fact that we saw a season of Star Trek that never happened. So please no reset button. Carry on. Bring on a new Captain, bring on new characters, promote old ones and deal with the situation they created. But NO RESET

I have no problem with Ash going away for medical/mental help for a while, but i would be really upset if they ended his the tyler role on the show. at the end of the day he was a POW and victim. i also feel like Shazad Latif acted his heart out as best as possible and should come back in season two.

They could have him come back as V'oq's long-lost little brother, W'oq, a renowned Klingon stir-fry chef.

I am really unhappy about it, but I've pretty much come to the logical realization that Lorca, Tyler and Stamets are probably all done after S1. There's really no easy way to bring any of them back for S2.
