How well do you dance?

Hated dancing. Brings back so many awesome memories from high school in those stupid phy ed dancing classes. How can one have an epiphany based on an epiphany one didn't realize at the time?

So nobody tried doing the Macarana back in the late 90's?

Jason

Oh, heck no!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I don't care much for the Macarena dance - I just like the music.

(The original Spanish version, of course. I can't stand the one with English lyrics.)

That being said...

I feel that some basic knowledge of ballroom steps is a normal part of the social graces.
I've never had any social graces.

As for dancing, I have two left feet and ten big toes. I was voted "Least Likely to Boogie."

I'm definitely OC.

I was pretty much forced to dance once at an event for my fan club right after TNG had come out. I remember that that was the day I brought the first E-D model (glued, but not painted by any stretch other than some translucent blue paint inside the nacelles). The adults told me I was doing well, but I felt silly as hell.

Wait, does headbanging count? I did plenty of that in my late teens and early 20s.

Depends on what qualifies as dancing. Ive been in numerous mosh pits, but slam dancing prob doesn't count. I can free form okay if I'm at a festival or concert but standard/formal dancing is out the window for me mostly because I feel like I'm on display and I hate that feeling . Martial arts are more up my alley really...

As Trek fans I am surprised nobody has ever tried some of the moves Dr Crusher taught Data or ever tried to do that Nog dance move.

Like most musicians I don't dance any of the classical ones. Just never got around to learning it. I do have a square dance diploma, though :D

I've no idea if I'm a "good" dancer, but I'm of the belief it's the confidence that matters more than the technical expertise. I tend to do it a lot, including at very inappropriate times and often to the music in my head :angel:

...or something like this:

You want to know what it looks like if I try to dance?

Hate to be that guy, but I can sorta dance.

Before my last job screwed up my knees, hips and lower back I was a belly dancer in a local troupe. Mostly American Tribal Style and Tribal Fusion with some of our own unique stuff thrown in.

I wouldn't say I was ever great, certainly not competition level, but I was fair at it. I'm hoping that with some more time to heal I can get back into it someday, because it was a lot of fun.
