How to Train Your Dragon

Ok, during my third viewing, I finally figured out who David Tennant was playing.

Of the teens, there is the big geek, the twins, Astrid, and then there's one that kind of has a unibrow and is always hitting on Astrid.

Now, there's one adult who looks like a grown-up version of that teen. He only has a few lines here and there, but he's the one played by David.

He also does the audiobooks based on the books in that series. I had no idea til now.

It's confirmed ... How to Train Your Dragon is getting a sequel! While green-lit, it will take a bit to get it in theaters .... 2013. I can wait. I'll just watch my dvd of HtTYD a few thousand times while we wait.

I saw this movie last Friday in 3-D with some friends of mine, and absolutely loved it. My favorite characters - besides Hiccup and Toothless - were Ruffnut (the 'tough-chick' girl twin) and Gobber (the Blacksmith), and I really liked the parallel symbolism present in the film with regards to the relationship between Hiccup and Toothless, and the way that their relationship - and its evolution - spread out to the rest of the Viking population.

I loved the movie, especially toothless , but since everyone else did too, I'm going to review it differently.

IT GLORIFIES CHILD SOLDIERS AND MAKES KIDS WANT TO LOSE A LEG IN BATTLE, PROBABLY TO A LAND MINE!

I liked how Toothless was quite cat-like . . . made him more cute.


I also noticed that they're still using that same awkward smile that every cg character has. I seem to remember seeing a video compilation of all the lopsided smile/grimaces that they do but I can't find it at the moment

So, now that it's out on DVD, I've finally seen this -- absolutely loved it! I'm now very sorry I didn't make the time to go see this on the big screen in 3D.

I wish I could list all the little moments I love in this movie, but that would take ages. So I'll just mention that Toothless mimicking Hiccup's smile (and then later smiling back at Astrid after rescuing her) made me smile, too.

The flying sequences were so beautiful they brought tears to my eyes...especially when they were trying to convince Astrid to listen to Hiccup. (Had to chuckle during that scene when it became apparent that Toothless is smarter about "getting the girl" than Hiccup is...)

All in all, one of my favorite movies of 2010.

My wife and I just watched this movie this past weekend. I had heard very good glowing reviews and my daughter had seen it and she loved it. I really was blown away and if exceeded my expectations. I think the next time I'm at Wally World I will pick up the DVD it is a keeper.
