I guess but the thing is.. religious terms (especially generic 'god') have lasted. Even Jesus and Christ as words in our language is still with us. Who is to say they won't go for another three hundred years?
It's a usage of language. 'Blasphemy' isn't reverence, lol. Just as some language we use today has survived without relevance to a belief or direct meaning, some will continue.

Utopia. Free society, education for everyone, and they learn the difference between mythology and history, no barriers.
Colonization. The people who can't handle a godless earth, are given ships for free, and wished good luck, as they bugger off.

^^^I'm at a point in my life where I treat the original Star Trek as its own distinct entity, separate from the rest. It is just so different in tone and style it feels totally different from the rest.

Sadly - that's true. It's still the one series I like best; and the only one I can re-watch episodes of over and over and still enjoy them immensely.
Well, that would certainly mesh with it being Uhura who sets everybody straight about it!...Then again, maybe they AREN'T homonyms, and the only reason for Our Heroes' confusion is because of the universal translator.
