Clickbait bullshit that I managed to sit 37 seconds through before moving back to reality.

Hugo - not saying its not been a long road getting from there to here, but still...
Damn it Hugo! I tried to save you! LOL!

Morbid curiosity got the better of me. Plus, your post comes after the video ;)

I doomed myself.

Hugo - no regrats

I was really positive about Discovery. Now I find myself less excited, very concerned that it's going to be War Trek like Axanar was. I wanted it to be about exploration.

Hmm.. that picture not as good as others. She looks like a compass tool or a paper weight.

I voted positive and that I'm looking forward to watching a Trek tv series again no matter what era it takes place in as long it wasn't in the timeline like Enterprise was set in.

Circa 70% are at least someway positive and upward. A result!

And this series *appears* a substantial change as to what went on before -- and that new direction won't find favour with some people. And that's just the way these things work.

You can make up any excuses you like, but there's nothing ambiguous about the undeniable, nearly unvarying downward trend that began in DS9's second week and continued its slide right up to Enterprise's cancellation.

People started leaving Trek almost immediately after DS9 premiered and the audience drain never stopped - no matter which series you like or don't, all the shows sank from week to week.

You've got no quantifiable evidence whatever to support your argument; just a personal opinion of "quality."
The "franchise fatigue" argument is complete BS. Even if you want to quibble about whether the term means the fans got tired of the franchise or the production staff got tired of it, which is why they started to turn out so many uninteresting episodes (regardless of which show), it's BS.

Since the whole "franchise fatigue" argument was started by Berman and Braga following Ent's early cancellation, you have to assume they weren't referring to themselves, because that would have confirmed what a lot of us were saying; that neither of these guys should have had anything to do with Trek after VOY, so I tend to dismiss the term applying to the producers and staff.

So, that leaves "fan fatigue". Why would nearly 13 million people have shown up for the ENT premiere if there was so much franchise fatigue at the end of VOY? I mean if fans were truly tired of the franchise, why would more than 12 million of them turn up for the premiere of yet another Trek show? The fans who truly were tired of Star Trek simply didn't bother tuning in to the ENT debut.

Somehow ENT managed to chase away most of that number by it's tepid opener, followed by more tedium as seasons 1 and 2 unfolded. This speaks to the fans not being tired of Trek, but tired of bad Trek, as someone else so astutely put it further up-thread.

Franchise fatigue is a self serving argument that demeans Star Trek and was cynically presented by the Beebs in order to turn the spotlight from their paucity of good ideas and feeble leadership skills. Blame the suits as well. They were among the first to hop on the "franchise fatigue" bandwagon with the Beebs.

There is ALWAYS potential for ratings on television for a well written, well acted, well produced, dramatic series, especially these days, and especially if it is a Star Trek show. The opening numbers DSC pulls down will tell you if there is significant fan fatigue.

almost 30% of people have a less than positive opinion.

And these people are Star trek fans.
not good

It's to be expected. Some trekkies complain about trivia that has nothing to do with how good a show is.

Really, some hard core fans disliking the show is a good thing, since they hate and fear the fresh, the new and the innovative.

How is anyone still a Star Trek fan with no new wealth of material since 2005?

3 movies don't count.

Nice movies, but a drop in the ocean compared to me needs.

It's absolutely an accurate label for what happened.

The audience got bored with oldTrek.
Obviously, this was the only sentence of my post you read. You completely missed the point. Read the rest of my post if you're interested.

To add to your point. The folks at Midnight Edge reports that OLDTrek merchandising is doing well. Kelvin Timeline stuff, not doing so hot. Don't know where they source their info but I buy it.

Over 70% DO have a positive opinion. And those are nit-picky, impossible to please, possessive Star Trek fans.

I think that's very good sign.

See? You can make the data say whatever you want. You want to be negative. I don't see it at all.
