How many registered vehicles do you have?

Had a 98 Cavelier. Took care of it and the motor still blew. Piece of crap.
how old was it? and when did it blow?

Ahhh It happened sometime in 06. Maybe late summer? The reason it blew was because I had a water pump fail and the block warped. I tried to have it machined but they did a crappy job and the engine blew.

So it was the ultimate fault of the water pump.
still... 8 years worth of use out of the water pump...
The engine was fine, until the car was driven without coolant!
I am off to lunch in my unregistered vehicle :D
I pay like $25 per plate per year and I can just put it on any car (I use magnet strips so there are some cars it doesn't really like to stick to) and go!

Ah, I neglected to actually answer the thread question.

We've got a '96 Sable and a '91 Mazda MX-6 with 175,000 and 183,000 miles respectively.

We also have a '59 Chevy pickup that is not licensed, nor in any licensable shape, and is technically not titled in our name quite yet.

None. The one I have was basically a gift from my parents. My husband got his car before we married, and we'll probably keep these two for awhile yet.

It's a B6 S4 saloon.

Actually, without a shade of irony, it's reached the "don't laugh, at least it's paid for" stage. It's getting on for five years old now and lots of my capital is currently tied up with various ventures, and the value has depreciated enough that I can't p/x it in for a new car of about the equivalent level because I can't free up enough cash to pay off the balance for the new one outright and I don't like buying cars on credit. So in a way, I wasn't really joking when I said I'm impoverished!

Oh jeez. Let's have a whip round shall we

:p

The newest car I ever owned was 5 years old when I got it. Bought it in '99. Still drive it...will drive it until it stops moving. :vulcan:

Is it a Mercedes or a BMW? :p

Not even. A mere Audi S4. See, I am impoverished!

You drive an Audi? How many times has it broken down in the last six months? :p

seriously though, my dad owned one for a short time. He's never had a worse car in his life. I should know, I rode in it. What a piece of junk that thing was. I'm just lucky I wasn't there when my parents were driving to Chicago and it died right out in the middle of nowhere. It was a lucky day when we could drive it all the way across a shopping mall parking lot without major engine failure.

I think we should start a "Help Holdfast Get A New Car" thread ... :p

Never owned so much as a pair of rollerblades. Always use public transportation and my feet. I can use the exercise anyway.

You're lucky.

I wish we had decent public transit where I live. As it stands, we have one lameass bus service and that's it.

Our mayor has begun talk about light rail lines, though. I can only say that's a good thing. As much as I love my car, I'd love it even more if I didn't need one. I'd love to be able to take a train downtown to watch a Royals game, or even catch a line from Omaha to Lincoln so I could go to a Husker football game without wasting 20 bucks and 4 hours round trip travel time....

Everyone should have access to mass transit of all kinds. It's the birthright of anyone who lives in the city. Of course, the question of who would pay for it is a valid one. I just wish more people wanted it. Then they'd find a way.

I have one car-it's in both mine and Dad's names. Although I make the car payments on it. :) It's a 2001 GMC Jimmy and it's a nice ride for a 2001 vehicle. Mom wishes I had never gotten a used car, but I beg to differ cause in the long run, I might be able to get some serious $$ out of it if I wanna sell it in two years' time. ;)
