Might be some tracker bots from Google and other privacy vampires pinging everyone's profile on a monthly basis.

Well, I don't know for 100% sure, just a guess. Could be people, though - didn't mean to make you feel bad...
Nah, I knew they weren't real-- you just gave me some idea why. What kind of information do they gain by doing that?
Some people have more personally identifiable information (PII) in that area than others. Some people use their real name or sometimes email address. There are links to websites which can then be traced to owners via "WhoIs". All this information can then be compiled, mined, cross-referenced, linked, processed and sold to the highest bidder. It's all about the $$$, brother!
Creepy. I know it's happening, but I'm not always clear on how.
