How many films will they get out of this new cast/universe?

How many films do you think we will we get?

At least one more. Maybe two if the second one does as good at the Box Office as this one has.

And there are always the novels. Maybe they will branch off and do a series with this bunch too.

I"m thinking at least 6 depending if the next series is based on this crew. Perhaps have a real generations film by the seventh and passing the to a new cast a recast TNG crew prehaps or a semi recast and then after six film they also go to a series as well

3 and out so as to avoid staleness...

I want a television series after that, dammit!
Would they recast another TOS crew for TV?

That might be a bit risky, so soon after a redefined TOS movie series.

I'd say someone of JJ's caliber (or JJ himself if he's interested) would have to try and invent a variation on the theme.

Heck, if Stargate can keep going (and going, and going), I'm sure there is room for Trek on t.v. again.

I say three with all of the cast and four with some of the cast. Post 2011 i can see an Abramsverse t.v series starting with a new crew on a different ship, and my bold prediction is that the fourth movie will be a generations style passing of the torch with the new series crew and several of the new films crew, however i think some of them will have moved on.

A trilogy seems to be the current favourite.

If I'm allowed say this, with all the goodwill the nu-universe has... I would hope following the third picture, with the characters approaching the same ages as those in the Original Series, it will begin to dovetail back into line with the Prime. Or to use what some consider to be a dirty word, a reset button albeit a delayed one...

3 deffo unless the 2nd flops, which is very doubtful at the moment. However I could see a quick trilogy followed by a 4th movie after a certian gap a TUC type story.

I'm gonna go out on a limb and say at least 5. tha's assuming the quality of this movie remains. The reason that the first batman movie series went under was the change in tone from burton to schumcher. The new batman movies have that original burton tone to them even though they are not directed by him.

can there ever be too many? although another series would be tradeoff enough for two - leaving a balance of three.

Let's oversaturate the market with Trek again please. I miss those oversaturated days. Two new episodes of Trek a week. Ah, those were the days.

Okay well I take that part back. Not so oversaturated that they can't focus things and have good quality.

Well when they casted this crew they were signed to a possible 3 movies. So I think we'll get that plus one more, the fourth one may cost them a little bit more. The actors may ask for more.

I'd be grateful if J.J. even sticks around for the second one. He's an entrepreneurial type; they like to start things and move on. Three is my guess.

If JJ directs the sequel, hopefully Paramount will put a clause in his contract that puts a limit on the number of lens flares that can appear in the movie!
