How many black characters were in TOS?

You mean Vince Howard? Jones has never, AFAIK, appeared on any incarnation of Star Trek. They did get him to voice a character in an early episode of Stargate SG-1, though.

You are right, I stand corrected.

Thanks,

Navigator NCC-2120 USS Entente

Let's not forget the lovely Yeoman Zahra from "Operation Annihilate!" I believe the actress was some sort of famous model at the time.

Maurishka Taliaferro. Google is your friend.

I don't know how famous she was, if you Google her and -trek and -annihilate you get next to nothing.

The Troglyte in the Cloud Minders had a line or two.

That would be Fred Williamson, a former football player in the AFL with the Raiders and Chiefs. Williamson also played the role of "Spearchucker Jones" in the original M*A*S*H movie, and later went on to a career in blaxploitation films. In 1974, he was slated to replace Don Meredith on "Monday Night Football", but his performance on-air was such a train wreck that he was canned from that gig before the preseason even ended.

I don't know what nationality Marishuka Taliaferro is, but she looks more like some type of Euroasian than an African-American.

There is that black guy at the end of Trouble with Tribbles - bald head, has a Van Dyke beard, looks a bit like Hawk from Spenser for Hire - the name escapes me....

In the first act of The Enterprise Incident there is a tall black officer standing behind McCoy's chair in the briefing room. Red shirt and full commander's braids.

Three movies, two TV shows. 1967-70.

The surname takes you to an Italian version of IMDb, and dead links.

The surname is definitely Italian. I always thought she was Mediterranean - Northern Africa of one of the Arab countries. The surname indicates that her father was probably Italian, while her mother might have been Moroccan or something.

Its amazing what you think of when you sleep after a night shift, I awoke and suddenly remembered these, most are small roles though and none speaking parts:

Some of the children in "Miri", Some of the children and their parents in "And The Children Shall Lead", Wilson from "The Enemy Within", The Salt Creature when it tries to kill Uhura in "The Man Trap", One guy in a blue shirt during the wedding ceremony in "Balance of Terror", When Chapel is talking to Korby on the bridge there is a crew member in gold uniform who walks to hold hands with a white crewmember in blue overalls behind her in "What Are Little Girls Made Of?"

Although having just read most of the posts....im not so amazing lol
