Well, there's that whole end scene from "Dalek", where the dalek opens its casing despite a caution that this would kill it...I believe he's killed from early on... didn't he and Ian remove a dalek from its casing, in the daleks' first appearance? That would have killed the dalek, surely.
Would that kill a Dalek? Or just render one helpless? Then again, I remember Tom Baker with tentacles wrapped around his throat, so only partially-helpless.
Well I guess we better add the entire 10th Cyber legion to the Dr's kill count!
In Resurrection Of The Daleks (1984), one escapes from its casing and goes on a rampage, perishing shortly afterwards. Maybe they have seconds to live and are thereby inclined to "go for broke".Well, there's that whole end scene from "Dalek", where the dalek opens its casing despite a caution that this would kill it...
Did anyone mention Nephew The Ood from "The Doctors Wife"?
Six killing Shcokeye in the Two doctors was pretty...well pretty shocking!
Moffat has done better, but the arrogance is still present..the whole scene with the Atraxi on the roof top of the hospital in ep1. of series 5, and then that scene in the big bang with all the aliens hover over stone henge, I was like come on! this guy is a complete bloviating jerk! who wrote that crap! the on coming storm...
I'm not as well versed in the classic series as some here but I've certainly read and seen enough to get the impression that "humble" and The Doctor are not necessarily words that go hand in hand.I preferred it when the doctor was humble and you had worry if he was going to get out alive.. now it is almost assured by his continual confident rants and bragging..

The Oncoming Storm was coined in the RTD era for the 9th Doctor so that's when that "crap" as you call it was written. Also, it's been a long time coming when The Doctors reputation was really going to bite him the ass. Even Davros said in Journey's End that while The Doctors voice was different, the arrogance was unmistakable. Basically, he's come to believe his own hype.

Yea, I've seen most of Pertwee, and everything since (And a few of the first Two Doctors as well), and yea, Humble isn't really a correct way to describe the Doctor. McCoy was especially devious, threatening, bragging and dangerous.Moffat has done better, but the arrogance is still present..the whole scene with the Atraxi on the roof top of the hospital in ep1. of series 5, and then that scene in the big bang with all the aliens hover over stone henge, I was like come on! this guy is a complete bloviating jerk! who wrote that crap! the on coming storm...
