Since the very start. Before the announcement of this movie, I was just an occasional viewer of the BBS. But as the movie started development, I felt like I needed to join in and share my voice.

Never quite understanding, along the way, those fans that were opposed to this movie or the rebirth of the franchise.

The sombrero thing was funny, though, I wanted to join in, I never dedicated any time to creating a sombrerofied avatar.

I've been following this from the beginning as well, hoping for a reboot. I really thought that was the only way to go –*throw everything away ala Battlestar Galactica and start fresh –*but it looks like we're getting something even better.

I liked what this crew did with the third Mission: Impossible movie. It was a fun story but still harkened back to the best of the episodes, right down to the music cues. I've followed the development of other movies more closely but when I heard who was on board for this, I relaxed and became a casual observer. That said, I've paid more attention to this Trek film than any other in the franchise.

Seeing this movie is gonna hurt. I have the feeling it's going to be such a fun ride I'll wish I could have a new adventure the following week. I'm hoping this can be the start of something wonderful on television as well.

I think I first heard about it around the spring of 2007, so it's already been 2 years... I still remember how ridiculously excited and thrilled I was when on October 17, 2007, it was confirmed that Karl Urban would be playing McCoy. He's my favourite actor, you see. Not only was he going to be part of my favourite movie/TV franchise ever but he was also going to play one of the most iconic characters in all of Trek history... For a long time I just felt like this was a dream and that my bubble was going to burst eventually. Well, it's not a dream, the bubble is still there and I'm still on cloud 9....

I was pretty ticked off when the movie release date was moved back, but in the end I think the date change was a good idea.

I'm really looking forward to the Premiere. Its a long time coming.

The long answer, from the very beginning and even more that the other ideas been thrown around such as the Romulan War, Third world war movies etc.
It was an April morning in 2006 I woke up and got the news on the teletext on TV. I hopped online to see the news in detail and the famous Star Trek Arrow head logo and the whole prequel idea which talked about Kirk and Spock in the academy together. This was the first time that a Trek movie project was a sure thing and it was on the fast Track for Summer 2008 Release at the time of the news. I was so excited that this was actually happening that I could hardly eat.

So yeah, 3 years now. It's been a long time and it's weird to think in 2 months I'll be seeing this.

Geeze louise, I've been following this from before there was a movie even rumored or a forum to bitch about it in! In my defense, my visits here have been sporadic so I'm sure most of you have logged far more post-time than me. (Mainly I'm avoiding all but the most generalized spoilers - and I'm still pretty "pure" in that regard, if in no other. )

After (or even before) ENT was cancelled, we congregated in Future of Trek to bemoan our fates. Some folks predicted that "Trek is dead!!!111!!!" or that it would be twenty years before we heard any further news. I even recall outlandish estimates like fifty years.

I figured, five years tops before the corporate greedheads go back to that reliable old Trek well. These people will resurrect brands like BSG and Starsky & Hutch. Why would they leave Star Trek alone?

It didn't even take five years - it was what, two? Never underestimate the pure creative force of greed!

The short "downtime" astonished me, as did the amazing intelligence TPTB showed in casting just the right guy to play Spock. That was my first hint that, hey, this could all work out really well...

It was August of 2006 that I became inseparable from this movie. For almost three years now, I have followed this movie down to the smallest detail and have been counting down the days to it's release. From the Matt Damon rumors to today, Star Trek has seriously consumed my life. Am I embarrassed to say that? Not at all. I am damn proud to say that I have supported this movie from day one and when I walk into that theater it will truly be an emotional experience for me.
