How Long Have You Been A Fan?

I watched Star Trek as a teenager from the very beginning (first run) TOS even though the picture on that station was always snowy. I have been a fan ever since; continuing to enjoy the series from TNG to the last of Enterprise. I never watched the TOS movies, but I did enjoy the TNG and new trek movies. Yeah, I'm old.

It's not that the picture was snowy. ... they just went over budget on transporter and starfield FX. :D

I couldn't say precisely, but I watched TAS in first run, when I was either 3 or 4. I probably watched TOS in reruns as I remember watching Doomsday Machine in the house we lived in at the time. The first movie I drove to see was The Voyage Home. I don't think I ever wavered in my fandom. There were times I watched less TV; there were times no Trek was on any channel. I also had huge stacks of VHS tapes filled with episodes I taped. Trek has always been with me.

(I used the online 'Calculate duration between' thing for fun) I have been a fan 17,730 days. Or rather I have been a fan 48 years, 6 months, 17 days. LOL Or if you will, since September 8, 1966! (heyyy.... the emoticons and Reply functions aren't working for me right now. ???)

I don't know the exact year when I started watching Star Trek. Maybe 1977 or 1978, back when I was knee high to a grasshopper. I know it was before TMP was released, because I remember seeing it in the theater.

AHHH since the wee begining

I have been a fan since I first saw the Animated series way way way back between 1979 and 1975. What sold and captured me was TWOK.

Hello, I'd like to make this my introductory post, and with it, start a controversy.

I have season one DVD collection and I will watch it from time to time.

Now, it's been accepted that the first interracial kiss on TV was between kirk and Uhura.

I submit to you it is not.

And I was really surprised to see it too.

The first interracial kiss was actually between....

Uhura and Christine Chapel Nurse Chapel was leaving the bridge with Kirk and company when Uhura gave her a peck on mouth.

now, it wasn't a romantic kiss nor was it anything like using tongue,...

And it is most definately a blink and you'll miss it scene, one you have to be paying attention to catch it....

But is is captured on video.

The episode is What Are Little Girls Made Of.

I would agree there WAS a prior kiss but what got people going about Kirk and Uhura is that one was a full on kiss

The nurse and uhuora you speak of was more like a good fortune thing

1979. The Motion Picture was the first film I saw at the cinema at the age of 5. Hooked ever since.

I got my first taste of Trek in 1984 when I was 12 and we were living in the UK, TOS reruns. I caught the occasional episode of TNG in the early 1990s, and saw much of DS9 and VOY when the shows first aired, although in the mid-1990s I was more interested in Babylon 5. That said, at the time I would watch any space-based sci-fi that was airing, and at the time we were spoiled for choice... ENT turned me into a Trekkie and I've watched every aired episode at least once since then.
