How long has it taken you to get someone to admit they are wrong?

In my case, it's not a family issue and the people who have done it, won't even admit to it. That is difficult. Though they know that I know.
I am a character more sinned against than sinning.

No, seriously, how long has it taken you to get someone to admit they are wrong? I used to know someone, at age 13, who used to stick his fingers in his ears, when you put your side. It's fun when adults do the same! Not.
Have you ever worked with someone like that? Was it fun when they got shown the door? Or, did they just get dressed down, in front of the boss? And just came back into the office and stapled a few letters with volcanic anger, as you sniggered?

that was a but harsh, wouldn't you say? as i've understood, he wants to know what the record was for how long it took for someone you know to admit that they were wrong. even if they knew it themselves. so i say the sky is green and i stick by that for years without admitting that you were right, it really is blue.
correct me if i'm wrong but thats how i got it.
anyway my record is dunno maybe, two years? not sure about the exact date and hour but somewhere around two years.

Really, if it took you 20 years to convince someone Pepsi is better than Coke, does anyone care? It would be nice to know what it actually took Cheapjack 13 years to convince someone about!

About 15 minutes. I work with an ultra-right wing teabagger chick and I always get her riled up and 15 minutes later I have her agreeing with me after I shred all her delusions.
dunno. i once had to explain to a colleague FOUR TIMES how trading cards work and she still didn't get it.
i work in this newsagents see, and we seel soccer trading cards called 'Match Attax'. the sseries for 2008/09 had been recalled by the wholesalers and someone had come in asking for them. i mentioned this to my supervisor. she turned around and said 'oh, tehy're coming back in two weeks'. i sez, 'no, that'll be the NEW ones.' she argued and FOUR TIMES i explained it was NEW cards for the NEW season and she still wouldn't accept it. i finally snapped and asked her if she was really that stupid or was she trying to wind me up?

I suppose a few months for me. A friend and I had a falling out, and we stopped speaking for about 3 months. I wrote her a letter one day, because I missed her so much. I think time and the letter convinced her that she was in the wrong. She apologized and our friendship remains strong 3 years later. The funny thing is that I felt that a typewritten letter was too impersonal given what needed to be said, so I wrote it out by hand: I think much better when typing, though, so I had to type it all out first, and then copy it down onto the stationery. What's hysterical is that she had done the exact same thing with her response!
When it comes to debate it has been my experience that people will often discontinue debating with me, and frankly, I think it is because I debate thoroughly and with resources. My sister and I were debating the "Ground Zero" non-mosque and she just disappeared after I tore apart a pathetic article opposing its construction. It used to annoy me when people would either give up without admitting defeat, or at least agreeing to disagree, but I don't bother to get worked up over such things much any more. I still really enjoy the debate, and so I think I debate passionately, but I don't become emotionally invested enough to get upset.
On the other side of things, I am very stubborn in many ways. Though I always admit my ignorance in hopes of learning, and a logical argument can go a ways toward changing my mind, I can on a very few specific points (though rarely) be obstinate to the point of obtuseness. This happened more often when I was a teenager, though -- I think I'm growing out of it.

It took me about 40 years, but I did get my Dad to admit that he was NOT the best father in the world.
I'll tell you when they do, or don't. It may take a few months. I might not tell you the exact details, but I promise you it will be better than my 'smelly-tarantula-virgin-woman' tale.

My gym buddy and I frequently have times where he tells me I'm wrong when I'm not. And I don't mean on opinions, as that would be silly.
The most recent one was where I mentioned Avatar was being rereleased and he said that's because it'll be in 3D now. I said I don't think so as it was in 3D already, it's just got extra stuff now. He said I was wrong.
Another time he said Edward Woodward died about 10 years ago, but I said it was only a few months ago, he said I was wrong so we went to the internet.
I've forgotten the other things but they were like that.I giggle a bit when he disagrees because he does it every 2 or 3 days. The first time I bet him a bottle of whiskey and I keep wanting to remind him of that time but even now I forget what it was about.
