As to temporal clusterfuks, ever read the Millenium trilogy? By the end of that I had no idea what timeline I was reading about and what was going on. Still a good read though

But "Threshold" WAS one of the best episodes ever. This Very Special Episode of Voyager would be in good company. Also, I'd totally watch it.
