How is Janeway sexy?

......and creepy.

Why can't you folks watch porn like everyone else?

I have nothing more to say about this.

Wow, expressing a preference shouldn't need such defense, nor should there be some call to justify it, Spalko. I can't see this going anywhere productive, exodus. So far, this thread has been pretty enjoyable with folks enjoying how they see Janeway and Kate Mulgrew. Let's strive to keep it that way.

Well it's more like two-four times a week. :)

It's entertaining to read. Reminds me of when DD, teacake, and I would have our late night(for DD and I) chats here.

Those were tremendous fun. :D

You know something, I realized I'm not a big J/7 shipper.

But that's only because Janeway came across as more "Mama Bear" with Seven, to me anyway.
Me too.

Janeway/Seven IMO= Ripley/Newt
They were mother/daughter not lovers.
Besides, how twisted would Janeway be taking advantage of Seven that way.

Same here.

For me Seven was mentally 5 when the show started and was 10 by the time it ended.

I can see what J/7 shippers see though.

And DD we need to do that again, they were so much fun. :D

But that's only because Janeway came across as more "Mama Bear" with Seven, to me anyway.

We all have our point of view and our own tastes, and that makes fandom more interesing ;)

That doesn't mean that I don't enjoy your J/7 posts and stuff on Tumblr. :D

Exactly.

I love them :D

I only said that I won't discuss anymore about this because I know where these things lead to. We all have our opinions and I only ask for respect as I respect others.

When doers age matter in a surrogate mother/daughter relationship, not to mention Seven is mentally no more than 8 when Janeway freed her from the Borg. Plus, there are just as many that acknowledge the mother/daughter relationship as there are that see it yo be something more. No opinion in this case is more valid than the other.

Exactly, that's your point of view, and I have mine. Oh, and that same reason could be used to for Seven being with Chakotay or Seven with any other male aboard Voyager.

and I won't say anything more about J/7. This is a Janeway forum.

Agreed.

I haven't once questioned your POV or asked you to defend it.

I tend to agree on the J/7 being maternal and JR's argument that the subtext pales against something like Xena - except for whatever was going at the end of "Dark Frontier" and "Voyager Conspiracy" was... not all that maternal. But, overall, I just can't get on board.

That said, I love the stuff the J/7ers come up with, because they're a damned creative bunch and there's some great stuff out there and I can see where they're coming from!

Anyway. We take all shippers in this here compound. No need to tell one group just to watch porn. That's hardly fair.

Star Trek practically invented slashfic! K/S, anyone?

EDIT: You guys can talk about whatever ships you want, IMO. Pretty sure I've been waving my J/C and J/Ka flags around since like day one... :P

I apologize if that came across poorly, Spalko. I should have said more plainly that you don't have to apologize for or defend expressing your preference. I never saw Seven as emotionally immature, rather as unsocialized. But that is not germane to the thread. Now back to Janeway

What about using that wonderful Avatar... "Ashes of the Borg Queen". :bolian:

I BET you she will HOOT when she sees it. :guffaw:

I am soooo thick, I actually googled "Ashes of the Borg Queen" to figure out what avatar you might be talking about :alienblush:

Thank you all for your comments about the pics. I did not realize that the ones online would not print nicely at all.. I guess I can just try printing some and see how it goes. The "Got Balls?" one was a promo shot so maybe it will print clearer or maybe I don't know what I'm talking about. I have some time still to figure it out.

Spalko did you draw the original pirate Janeway you did? Or is it manipped in some way?

What did you find, when you googled your own avatar? :guffaw:

Google image gave me lurok's avatar, Got Balls pic, Quinto and Pine high 5ing each other pic and X men poster pic, LOL

GOOD MORNING THREAD

EDIT: Sorry if I started this guys, it wasn't supposed to be an all out debate. :)

You got my avatar teacake?

I'll just say this about 7, not from a shipping point of view but from a "I love 7 and must always stand up for her" point of view:

You don't assimilate thousands of individual without maturing on some level. Yes she is stunted, but she is not a child. She is rarely fooled by anyone, she has a savvyness that is not child like at all. She is highly critical and often zeroes in on underlying motives. While she needs instruction in daily interaction, how not to be rude etc.. it's not much more instruction than you or I would need if we moved to Andor and had to fit in with an alien culture. How close do you stand, how do you initiate friendship, what are you doing amongst the Andorirans that is sending the opposite message you intended. Her head is full of knowledge and experiences and she's struggling to find appropriate context for it all. I do not see her as a child but as a unique person with a unique background.

If you had locked Annika Hansen in stasis at the age of 7 and pulled her 15 years later she would be a child. This is not what happened to 7.

YES. Exactly. I loved the Mama Janeway/Seven moments. It always felt very true to me.

I never cared for the 'everything borg must be eliminated' stance that the writers used with Seven. Her experience in the collective is a valid part of her life, it what she always was from her perspective. Very little remains in her memory of a prior life. I saw her uneasiness based primarily in trying to adapt to this new life not from being immature but from being inexperienced with the culture of Voyager and the crew. I saw her focus on Janeway not as a surrogate mother but as a surrogate Borg Queen.

^ LOVE that picture!

I see the argument. I still see some very childlike elements in her character, though. And it's not so much that I think Seven is still mentally like a seven-year-old, really - I mean - she's just plain old younger than Janeway. And she's still awkwardly trying to navigate things like relationships and sex in a practical way. I dunno. I read J/7. I'll read anything, really, if it's a good story! I just have a hard time really believing in it (unless it's uber, where it's more removed from show canon.) There's totally some subtext there, and a lot of intensity, and Janeway plays favorites with Seven like no tomorrow... but... I can't get past that, I guess. Seven took Kes' place in the main "daughter" role, and they make that pretty obvious.

Anyways, for all Seven's awkwardness, she seems to get along great with Tuvok. It's a shame Janeway pushed her so hard to be more human, when perhaps she would have been happier learning about Vulcan culture. I think Janeway wanted Seven to be like her more than anything. Surrogate Borg Queen indeed!

Unrelated, but I wonder if Seven was being groomed to be the next Borg Queen, then? It seems to be implied.

The next queen, perhaps? It would depend on how the term Unimatrix 01 of Seven's designation gets interpreted. I thought of it as a collection of drones who made up the consciousness of the queen, each likely specializing in certain tasks. Seven's knowledge of astronomy, species history and cultural/scientific achievement making her job seem one of identifying and targeting species for assimilation. I don't think she was a random drone, but an important member of the decision making hierarchy of the collective. I wish that her background had been utilized in the show to more dramatic effect along these lines.

I had that kind of feeling to and I have to admit that I would have loved to see her, at the end, being transformed into one.

Same thought here. It was obvious that she was important for the collective, so her role there, somehow, had to be important.

I thought that when I heard her speak the words "I speak for the Borg."

And then all of her personal pronoun use after before she was taken out of the collective.

Good point, although Seven didn't know about the Queen until Season 5...

What I thought was interesting about season 5's DF is that the Queen kept mimicking things Janeway had done, as a way to ingratiate herself to Seven's new personality.

I agree with the amazing creativity found in many of the J/7ers in the youtube domain. :techman:

I've read some J/7 but the J/Cer in me just can't give up "the ship" enough to enjoy the written fiction. ;)

I don't agree Seven is emotionally a 7 yearold. :borg:

Its much worse than that, she has the emotional quotient of an 18 yearold with the Intelligent Quotient of a 1000.

Relating to a Vulcan is easier for her, because the Vulcan doesn't need emotional connections like we silly humans. :vulcan:

As for "the end of "Voyager Conspiracy" and "Dark Frontier"... and I'll throw in the end of the Omega show... I'll stand by what I've ALWAYS said about Captain Kathyrn Janeway. ;)

She's willing to SEDUCE anyone in her path, to get what she wants.

Its just what she generally "wants" isn't a roll in the hay, but rather a faster way home. :bolian:

I think it's her confidence. She's attractive enough, if not a stunner.

The way she carries herself is really nice.
