The fact Q appeared in better health, although still older like he did after "catching up" with Picard, makes me feel he jumped into the future while he still could to do some stuff with Jack before going back to finish up his dealings with Picard and co.
So from Jack's perspective, Q is dead. But from Q's he's still alive?
Oh yeah, I forgot. Well, then I stick to my theory that Q de Lancie has different versions of himself a la what we saw in Voy's 'Death Wish'.Maybe but I think it might be more than that. He already said he was done with Picard so he wouldn't have to go back.
Palpatine's return was at least logically consistent, even if the writing was lazy. Daniels' wasn't. Q's isn't.
