How hard was Picard?

He didn't come across as much in Encounter. A bit flat. Was he as hard as Kirk? He is an ex head of security.

I think there should have been an Enemy Within type of episode, where he loses it a bit. He came over as a bit flat, sometimes. It shouldn't have been left to Worf to provide the aggro, I think.

Only Beverly Crusher would be able to answer that question...

As for Kirk? (That was between him and Carol Marcus)...

Picard was disciplined, but still was a tough cookie. and was never willing to back down from a fight should it arise.

I don't think any of the captains were wimps, and could more than hold their own should needs be.

As a diplomat, he was tough; however, his crew turned into whiners when Captain Jellico took temporary command. Jellico was like granite.

I think Vash's answer would be, "That all depends. How hard do you need the good captain to be?"

Captain Jean-Luc Picard was a rich, multi-faceted character; one who read ancient Greek and Latin classics and Shakespeare as well as hard-boiled detective novels. He played the flute as well as rode horses, fenced, and did a little rock climbing. He drank tea as well as Aldebaran whiskey. He was a diplomat and explorer with a love of archaeology who also appeared to have a certain degree of special ops training. The erudite who easily rose to the role of action hero when necessary. IMO pretty damn bad ass!
