How fast is your internet?

With that download speed, you seem to be posting from the early 1980s. I suggest you wait 30 years for technology to catch up to your needs.

Then, work for NASA.

Remember when I was talking about how good Open Range is? Yeah, I take that back. After 30 days, this is what I'm getting:

And that's on a GOOD day.

That's pretty pathetic. What is that, wireless? I assume so do to the insane latency.

The whole service is wireless, yes. I'm thinking they've managed to oversubscribe here, just as they have in so many other places.

As promised, Speedtest over at my parent's place (apparently this is on a good day):

The numbers don't do the connection's reliability and stability any justice though. It's downright awful. Navigating pages is an exercise in patience, and good luck trying to stream anything but low quality audio content :techman:

To note: While the customer rep on the phone told me that subscribers often watch Hulu, Netflix, Youtube, et al, I have discovered that Open Range has a 2 GB per day, 60 GB per month cap. After that, they throttle your connection severely (at one point I was getting 8KBps. Nowhere does it say this in their contract, and no one mentioned it at all when I signed up.

Manchester is miles away!

Raise a stink and take them down!

I'd love to, but it won't happen. You have to have money and clout to take down companies like that, and I have neither. I'm already looking around for another provider that hasn't had it's bridge burned, but will probably wait until we move, so that I know all of my options.

At my girlfriend's olds for the next few days, and this is what I'm stuck with. I believe that is the first "F" grade connection in the thread, do I get a cookie?

I'd send you a photo of a cookie, but I'm not sure you'd be able to download it in time before you leave.

What the hell is that, vile-up?
Haha thankfully not, as slow as my connection is, at least it isn't quite that slow. It is what passes for "broadband" in TelstraClear's opinion, it seems. It probably doesn't help that her parents live in the boonies, but so is the place we were housesitting until yesterday, and they get a decent connection.

At the place we're housesitting down the road from the gf's parents now, at least the internet speed isn't complete bullshit here.
