How do you think you would feel if "Orville" does get cancelled?

I would be disappointed but, not surprised.

It's a fun show - so far - but, FOX has a terrible track record...

That's good to know, Cake.

If it is cancelled, I'd be briefly disappointed. I enjoy this show. It's one of the first I watch when it appears in my DVR line-up. But, after that brief disappointment, I'd move on.

I'm really enjoying the show. It's an unexpected surprise to me as I really didn't know much about it before the first ep aired. I'd be disappointed now if it didn't return. It's feeding my '80's retro comfort zone thingy.

Wouldn’t care. Already stopped watching. (I don’t find TNG very rewatchable so why would I watch a pale imitation?)

Well. Maybe I would care in the sense that execs would think people don’t want a space show on network. And I do. Just not this one.

I'll criticise TNG till the cows come home and whilst The Orville isn't must see viewing for me yet, it is a lot more entertaining than most of TNG (except for that episode with Liam Neeson, that was bit too close to bland, uninspired TNG for my taste). TNG didn't have dick jokes either. And who doesn't love some jokes about the D?

If The Orville got cancelled, I wouldn't lose sleep over it but it would be a shame. Whilst I like my sci-fi dark, I think The Orville adds some necessary balance and lightness to the genre.

Fairly bummed, but not crushed, but I will say I am liking this show much more then I thought I would. I think there is a strong enough fan response and enough buzz among the scifi fan community to keep it going, If the comment section on YouTube is any indication, a lot of people prefer it to Discovery. (I think there is plenty of room for both) But I also think The Orville has a lot of potential with just some tweaks. But I think we will at least get a full season.

Realise this thread is old and I'm in the uk coming in late, but I'm loving it.

Just seen ep3 and it was a great story. Classic Star Trek-esque moral dilemma.

I know season 2 has now been confirmed and I would be seriously pee'd off if this series was cancelled.

In my naivity I just don't understand the negativity.

Every show is going to have some negativity because that stuff thrives on the internet. The concept of "agreeing to disagree" no longer exists. Still I think it's not that bad compared to lots of other stuff on tv or at the movies. It helps that Seth McFarlane has now been welcomed into nerdom as one of our new Gods! He can now take his place up their with the likes of Bruce Campbell and Kevin Smith and Joss Whedon and many more!

I am more interested in the Galaxy Quest series to be honest. That self-reflexivity is what I was hoping to get out of The Orville rather than its TNG recreation with dick-jokes tacked on. So I'm really just watching it as a GQ substitute more than anything else.

I got bored and stopped watching so I wouldn’t care. It seems like an expensive TNG fanfilm with jokes.

I'd really have nothing else to watch on weekly television other than The Grand Tour.

STD is just a complete drag - a boring trudge. I can't be bothered with that shit any more. The Orville is lively and funny. No, it's nothing like a "TNG fanfilm with jokes," but a TNG fanfilm with jokes would be vastly more entertaining than what CBS is churning out in Toronto or wherever.

My reaction? Meh.

I enjoy it as fluffy entertainment while I watch but I have no particular attachment to it.

I would, however, be disappointed for those who are big fans, much like I am when a show my wife likes that I don’t have any attachment to is canceled. Even if I don’t like it or am indifferent to it, I don’t want others deprived of their enjoyment.

I find it entertaining, funny and lighthearted with a few moral stories thrown in for good measure.

There is enough gritty hard hitting stuff out there right now that I thing there is a place for something like this to exist and thrive.

I'd be pretty sad. I love The Orville. It's the first time in 7 years I've committed myself to a TV show. It's brought me lots of happiness. Every new week was filled with awe and wonder. It's pure escapist fantasy that makes me grin like a giddy child opening a large Christmas present. I've also been showing it off to my friends and getting them hooked on it. I'm happy to spread the love and have something to talk about with a lot of good people. I'd genuinely be sad if it was canceled. However long The Orville lasts. I hope it receives a good end.

Comparison is a natural human function but it makes it really tough to enjoy something on its own merits. So, I've tried really hard with Orville to avoid the "Star Trek" comparisons, even if Seth is overt in his desire. I don't watch Orville to scratch that Star Trek itch-I watch because I like science fiction. In that way it does well, and it definitely has grown on me more.

I'd feel very sad because, I honestly feel The Orville is some of the best sci-fi we currently have airing now. I love it how the humour allows it to explore things in a different way. It's cathartic.

I'll be very disappointed, but a part of me knows this will happen eventually anyway. And by "eventually" I mean sooner rather than later.

While I'm enjoying the show -- especially the scoring -- and it's gotten much better a few episodes in, the show isn't so great or enjoyable enough that if it were canceled, I'd have the same feelings over it as "Firefly".

Or even "Nowhere Man".
