And for that it should be proud. DST is an abomination.
And senseless at this point. I swear the only reason it's still done is "We've always done it". It's made no sense in nearly a century, since people needed an extra hour of working daylight on the farms. For the rest of us, it just throws off everybody's internal clocks, so we can spend, at best, 2 weeks going back to waking up with the sunrise.
You watch, by Thanksgiving, it'll be like nothing happened. We'll all be back to waking up in the dark, but now we'll also be forfeiting an hour of afternoon daylight, which means the day shift working world actually DOESN'T have any palpable daylight savings. Quite the opposite. I'll be coming home from work in the dark too
Daylight Savings is basically the vinyl record scratch of life, that jumps a beat twice a year, & should be fixed.
Don’t people usually sleep more when they’re sick?
Not really. They're usually told to TRY to sleep more when they're sick. It's just encouragement, like "try to eat something", or "try to get more fluids in you", etc... Doing those things will aid in recovery, so that's why you're told to try to do them, the word "Try" hinting at the reality that it'll be a struggle to do so
That said, I don't usually have much issue with sleep. I don't do it luxuriantly... 6 hours a night. Sack out just before midnight, & roll out just after 6, except on Saturday, when I move things up an hour to get the jump on the grocery stores. If I'm wiped out, it's usually lights out moments after hitting the pillow. If not, I usually do a little meditative type thing, where I clear my mind & deep breathe, & then it only takes me 10-15 minutes. I use to have much more issue getting up in the AM, but a lot of that was weight related, & losing pounds helped a LOT
I also made a huge improvement ditching my bed. Now I got a mattress on the floor, & while it looks shoddy as hell, it's the best sleep I've had in YEARS, so it's staying. However, having to get up off the floor in the AM is rather an unusual way to wake up. So I may invest in some kind of raised platform bed, that is as solid as sleeping on the hard flat floor... just so I don't look like a train car hobo in my own bedroom, & can slide out of bed the normal way lol.
Although, a lot of things I've read say that a little bit of exertion in the waking up process, can actually energize you better, & maybe it's true. I zip right into action now. Don't even do caffeine... Whatever I do, I'm never going back to a box spring... or being overweight lol
