How could Robocop afford that house?

IOne bit about RoboCop 2 I did enjoy, is the bit where the Old Man is watching both Robos fight and he just goes "Gentlemen! BEHAVE yourselves!"

Oh, and the Magnavolt ad.

I will admit that was pretty good. Only downside is that people crap their pants when they die, so you might wind up with a cleaning bill.

Rest of the movie: :barf:

Robocop 2 is a pretty okay movie. And that's not just my opinion, it's a scientific fact. ;)

Robocop 3, the TV show, and the Canadian TV movies however...turds one and all.

I am too tired from medications to write up why, but I promise I'll do so sometime in the morning: I actually really like RoboCop 3 a lot more than RoboCop 2, and I feel it's more true to what Neumeier and Miner did with the original movie, whereas I don't think there's much of anything worthwhile in Robo2. Again, I can't mentally put pen to paper on why I feel so right now, but I'll do that tomorrow.

We ... we do not speak of The Series, nor do we talk of Prime Directives. The latter, especially, is a tire fire and there's more value to be found in the leftover meatloaf that's in my trash basket at the moment.

Sometimes I get the feeling that RoboCop 2 was just gratuitous violence for the hell of it.

Like that kid "Hob". Just a psycho with no rhyme or reason.

Or, put another way (take this in the context of works like RoboCop 2, Sin City and his other output):

Shortly before this thread was started, I downloaded a copy of Frank Miller's comic book adaptation of his Robocop 2 script.

I vaguely remembered the behind the scenes problems with the movie and how it was extensively recut and re-edited to get an 'R' rating; so, I figured that seeing the script adapted into comic book form would shed some light onto what changes were made from script to screen and if what was originally written was any better.

I was wrong, it's so much worse than what we got. I consider it a minor miracle that the movie is at least somewhat enjoyable.

I can't decide if Frank Miller didn't get/understand the satire and violence of the first movie and decided to parody it and ramp it up to eleven, or if he genuinely feels that way about women/cops/television/corporations.

I've been watching them this week as well. I remember enjoying the original when I was younger, so I bought the trilogy. It still holds up, but it's a lot more violent that I remember.

Can't remember much about the sequels though.

If you've recently bought the Blu rays, the the original film is the uncut version (which I'd not seen until I purchased the Blu ray) and it is more violent, especially the ED209 scene and a couple of other bits.

Murphy's house was probably in a crummy school district. That has a way of really lowering the price of homes.

RoboCop 2 was pretty distasteful and Irvin Kershner should have known better. How a director who helmed some really beautiful films as well as the best damned Star Wars movie got stuck on this thing is a minor mystery. And Leonard Rosenmann's usual stiff "it worked for Combat!" score doesn't help. The "RoboCOP!" chorus theme was laughable. The best thing RoboCop 3 did was bring back Basil Poledouris.

I thought Robocop 2 was ok. Obviously not as good as the first, and yes, it was silly and gratuitous at times, but it still tried keeping to the satirical edge of the original, even though it missed the mark a bit. I'd certainly watch it over the 3rd one any day.
