How can you praise this movie and bash VOY, ENT and Nemesis?

Well, not everyone is sane. And no one knows what drugs he was on when he saw it.

Uh, he was quite sane, and is a pretty tough reviewer-check out the rest of his reviews. Your point proves nothing, besides being insulting to somebody just because he gave a review to something you hated. Wonder what you'll do when and if he gives a bad review to Star Trek XII? How will you feel then?

Because Nemesis is horrible. This is the best review ever:

Well, probably not the best, but definitely the funniest. :D

As far as the kids bullying Spock for being half-human goes, bullies are bullies in any culture.

And the scene is a homage to "Yesteryear" (TAS). "Journey to Babel" and "Yesteryear" were both written by DC Fontana, who knows all about arrogant, slightly-superior Vulcans. She kept Vulcans (and the other writers) on track throughout most of TOS and all of TAS.

Looks like a very reasonable review of "Nemesis" to me. I'd agree with most of it.

I didn't hate "Nemesis" either. It was just full of so many lost opportunities, and it killed off my favourite character at the end. I'd have preferred to see a version directed by Jonathan Frakes. What I did hate was that the NEM script was leaked - in full - to the Internet so early, and that fans spent 18 months ridiculing the movie before it even came out.

I liked that people tried ridiculing this new film the same way, but JJ gave them precious little information, so many got to see it spoiler-free - and found they liked it. I kinda wish I'd seen "Nemesis" spoiler-free.

I find that people who hate/don't care about Data as a character are usually more likely to have enjoyed Nemesis more.

It really needed that deleted scene (from the bonus features) with Picard and Data after the wedding.

Sorry, but a professional movie critic's opinion-even if they are a reviewer at a music magazine-trumps that of a Star Trek-hating Star Wars fan/computer expert by a long mile. And he's not the only one-a very snobby local film critic at a local paper in Toronto liked it as well, enough to give it three stars (can't find his review anymore, sadly). These guys may not be big fish as far as movie criticism is concerned, but they are movie critics who work at reputable publications. Not a computer expert/family man who hates Star Trek.

I've liked all the shows, too. That doesn't mean I don't see what's wrong with them (and they all got things wrong, like every tv show does). But I watch them all.

STXI had good characters, good character moments, solid dialog and chemistry that kept the audience (well, ME) from disengaging. Voyager had static characters with inane motivations that never developed or evolved; ENT had lame characters who radiated incompetence out of every pore and eventually developed lame but slightly competent characters.

Nemesis had good characters, but did nothing with them.
