How Are You Getting Ready?

If in this day-and-age, someone is scared of a costumed geek at a movie theater, then they probably aren't really planning to see Star Trek anyway.

Try checking out dollar stores in your area K.E., Cinco-de-Mayo is coming up so there's bound to be some out there somewhere.

Seriously... I made this same point on Facebook. I hope to God fans don't wear uniforms or dress up like Klingons or any of that nonsense. It's movie, not a convention, folks.

The whole point of this film as that it's not just for us anymore so let's not scare the straights, in the words of Peter Venkman.

I can picture it now: A line 20 miles deep half of the people in costume and the other half deciding that maybe they just want to see Wolverine instead.

How about dressing up like the characters on... Fringe, Lost, Felicity and Alias? :)

seriously?! :techman:

I wouldn't dare do it. I draw the line at the vulcan salute.

Well stated, my friends. Considering many cinemas show a variety of movies, I would be worried that costumes will scare off people.
As for my plans, my brother ruptured a disc and won't be able to see it at the theater. I'll either be tending to him or perhaps seeing it opening night after all. Family comes first, even before Star Trek, for me. :(
Word.

I'll be curious to know the board statistics for the night of May 8. It'll be interesting seeing who is hanging around in here.

Since I'm not seeing it on opening day to avoid the biggest crowds, I'll be here short of feeling really sick or something else similarly important coming up and being offline.

I'm seeing it on the 7th at 7pm, in DC, then at 7pm again on the 8th, in NJ. we'll see how it is, then go one more time that weekend -- probably on Saturday or Sunday. I know, I'm nuts, but so is everybody else on this board :p

May 8th and 9th are going to be like a nuclear air raid siren going off around here. I'm hesitant to even show up.

Putting my pants on one leg at a time and going to a showing after it's been out a few days so the theater's not full of crazies.

Just curious how people are getting ready for the new movie. Me, I'm having some friends over the weekend before and we are watching a bunch of TOS episodes. Probably Balance of Terror and some first season gems, with maybe Spock's Brain thrown in to sauce the goose.

I'm waiting until I get paid on Friday to get my ticket. I don't want to order tickets online, since they cost extra. I would assume the local theatre will have tickets ready at least two weeks in advance.

Knowing my area there'll be enough tickets available on the 9th and 10th to have few if any problems scoring at least a couple. Even PHANTOM MENACE had tickets available the opening weekend.

Where at on the 7th?

I'll be in Florida for the Hubble Mission :(. I trust that you'll bump all the relevant threads for me.

You can expect nothing less of me.

Thread...or clothing wise.

squig, we're seeing it at the Ballston Mall. I'm getting tix soon. come along with your buddies if you like. the more the merrier. I want us to make a whole lotta noise :p

PS. and yes, this is me (indrani). this is my dad's account I'm posting from. and no, he doesn't mind. he's sitting, reading, right here. so please don't kick me out! ;)

I am sombrero shopping. I am also planning my weekend to see Trek Thursday night with my wife, the finale of Dollhouse on Friday, the go see Trek again, but in IMAX on Saturday with a bunch of friends.

Let's see...I've gotten a haircut, I'm getting a colonic next week , new clothing is in order. I tuned up my car -- got my nails done, tortured and killed some wildlife, so I've checked everything off my list and I am now fully prepared for this movie.
