how are they gonna move it? Cabin Fever spoilers...

Temis the Vorta

Fleet Admiral
Admiral
How's that for a vague, unspoilery title? :D

I have a theory how they're going to move the Island that doesn't involve floating it or towing it or anything that will allow you to observe it moving (which would be too blatantly fantastical for this show's style). But I'd like to hear from the peanut gallery first.

Let's do the time warp again!!!!

Hmmm...that actually makes some sense...

My theory is that they change the world's perception of the Island.

Okay, here are my theories, starting with my favorite:

1. Continental Drift. The Island exists in its own time (which explains the weirdness with the doctor). One of the bunkers has controls that can set the Island to any time. It's a day or so offset from the real world right now (and this offset is probably fluctuating) but set it to 600 million years B.C., and continental drift puts it in a whole other location. Maybe the arctic for all we know, or downtown Cleveland.

2. Change the Bearing. The Island rotates. You spin it a little, and the one & only bearing that you can reach it by will also change. That will throw off interlopers till they locate the correct portal. (Since 815 apparently came thru a different bearing than Lapidus, Sayid, et a are using now, either there's more than one access point or someone has been monkeying with the controls).

3. Industrial-Strength Transporter. If Ben can transport himself to the Sahara, why not transport the whole Island? Just sayin'.

4. Move the Snow-Globe One Shelf Down. Self-explanatory.

They put it on a huge flat-bed and move it fifty miles down the road after the underground tunnels get too stuffed with garbage from other cities. It really pisses off Shelbyville.

They use the magnetism available (like in the Swan) to confuse all the navigational instruments so that the island can't be found following the same bearings. This must happen after the 6 get off the island and is the big reason they can't go back to the island.

There's a *really* big outboard motor on one end of the Island.

I doubt the Island is not connected to the sea floor, so I'm gonna guess it gets teleported through time to the past/future, which is why it's nigh-impossible for the O6 and Widmore to find it.

One really cool theory is that the Island will be taken the 1970s and our characters will run smack into the Dharma Initiative. That would be the coolest season cliffhanger! They hit the switch and bam walk into a bunch of DI guys out in the forest!

This could lead to a brilliant inversion. The "Incident" that happened that messed up the DI? It was something our characters did! Could also explain Adam and Eve.

Or, the Orchid just teleports the Island to a different Vile Vortex.

The Four Toed Statue comes to life and gives the island a good, swift kick.

Or: they don't actually move the island. They move the planet and the island stays where it is.

They'll need three ZPMs.

Or maybe, Locke is simply jumping on the "Lost should be in SF+F!" bandwagon.....
