it would never have loyal scripts if it did happend. that i know for sure. but as of never gonna happen. i think there is a good chance something regarding tng will happen. maybe a prequel like strange new worlds. because they already did alot about TOS. then the next step would be remaking TNG. again. it could be a remake that also serve as a prequel. or a remake of tng but like i said, the chance the scripts will remain the same are very low. they would probably change alot of things

The 32nd century wasnt really needed, just a leap that went far into the universe.
even with the control set up, they could have just made it that they had to jump the sphere data, or control, or something to do with it, to some place so far away it couldn't affect the galaxy or federation or humanity or whatever. during the process or final fight, the spore drive is damaged, and they are stuck some place crazy and have to make the best of it.
OR, go full scale Sliders after the mirror universe, where each mini-arc was dealing with a different evolution or dynamic / mix of Federation politics and species in different universes, trying to make it home.
The people in charge now are people who would've grown up with TNG, not TOS. So, I'd say it's a possibility.
I personally think it's going to be new characters and rely more on star power than ever before to bring audiences in. Though I could be wrong. I'm not married to the idea. But a TNG Reboot is possible as well.
Had the Kelvin Films continued, we'd have definitely gotten a Kelvin TNG Movie by now. I cite Transformers having a Beast Wars Movie as an example of the way things would've gone for Star Trek, since Beast Wars is the TNG to Generation One's TOS.
No, I liked S1 Geordi as well, I just guess they figured they needed a Scotty character, and let's be honest, it wasn't going to be Worf or Troi. In hindsight it could have been O'Brien, freeing Geordi up to stay on the bridge. Oh well.
yup, i've said that (in hindsight) many times - O'Brien would have been great down in engineering, and allowed Geordi to grow as he was. He would be literal Chief O'Brien lol. My ideal TNG would be Pulaski staying (or even starting) as the Doctor, with O'Brien in engineering and Geordi with the rest of them on the bridge.
Eh, that's being generous, given the Beast Wars characters were really just glorified cameos in that movie.
That wouldn't have addressed the real issue which was that they wanted Wesley at the helm more often, and thus Geordi was moved to engineering to accommodate that. And in the long run, that probably worked best for Geordi given that in the end, helmsmen characters are rather difficult to write for as main cast, which TNG learned after Wesley left and they got by just fine without a pilot in the main cast. For that matter, Enterprise's neglect of Mayweather or the fact Ortegas has gotten the least development on SNW seems to reinforce this fact.
To be honest, I never actually saw the movie. I stopped watching them after the third, when I finally thought to myself: "I don't care how much I liked Transformers when I was a kid, this isn't for me!"
Well, they basically just show up for the climax's Big Battle. That's it.

Geordi was in the command chain, and had the VISOR ability, so it wouldn't have been like just writing for a generic helmsman, anyways.
Was he? Yes, he took command in The Arsenal of Freedom, but that was mostly because all the other main cast were on the planet.
I've always assumed that it was still because he was the next bridge officer in the command chain - other people with higher ranks were on board, but he was still next up in the command chain, no?
