House of Mogh...

I have always Worf describe himself and "Worf Son of Mogh" what do we know about the House of Mogh, or better yet Mogh himself. Korn had a seat on the high counsil until Worf refused to join Gawron to battle the Cardissians. After that Gowron reduced the house to virtually nothing, but before all that took place what and who was "The house of Mogh"

As an aside, did Korn ever meet Worfs human brother Nicholai, and what about Alexander??

I was wondering...

If Worf no longer exists, would The House of Mogh now be called "The House of Worf?"

I ask this, because Duras's father was Jarod and his family's house was called "The House of Jarod," but once Duras's death his family's house was called "The House of Duras."

I suppose that's how it would have been if the family lived on. I don't think it was mentioned in the episode with future Alexander.

It was never stated on screen but Colonel Worf, the Klingon lawyer in ST VI The Undiscovered Country [played by Michael Dorn] was taken to be the father of Mogh, and thus grandfather to Worf.

Keith RA DeCandido's Lost Era novel The Art of the Impossible deals with Mogh, his family, and his feud with Jarod.

Kurn is believed dead, and Worf and Alexander joined the House of Martok. Colonel Worf had a younger brother, Thok Mak, who one would think would do something with the House after the family of Mogh was believed killed on Khitomer, but, apparently, not. Females usually aren't Heads of a great House. Kurn had at least two daughters, but their fate is unknown.

I don't think it's necessarily true that Duras' house was named after the Duras we saw.

Remember, there was a Klingon named Duras in Enterprise. As correctly pointed out in the Memory Alpha article, this Duras was the son of Toral - the name of TNG Duras' son, and they shared the same forehead ridges.

Indeed, one might argue that a House is named after its original founding father. The house of Mogh might be named after Worf's father, but could just as well be named after his ever-so-great-grandfather who begat Worf who begat Mogh who begat Worf who begat Mogh...

The House of Martok sounds like a misnomer at first, since Martok was said to be a commoner rather than a nobleman. But one might argue that Martok was the founder of his noble house, despite coming from a commoner background. When one gets to be General in the Imperial forces, one probably gets knighted, too, even if one rose from the ranks.

^I imagine that's how it worked - Martok was the founder of his own house and so it's named after him.

It's all misdirection. It's really The Shanty of Martok. They just say "house" to make him feel better.

In the DS-9 episode "Sons of Mogh" Kurn wanted Worf to kill him so he could have an honorable death and enterance into Stavakor (is that spelled right) after a failed attempt to kill him Sisko tells Worf to find another way. So, Worf has Dr. Bashir to remove his memories and give his a new identity. Finally one of Worf's old friends gives him a new home and house to identify with...
