House, MD. 5x10 "Let them Eat Cake" - Discussion and Spoilers

I got to say, Lisa Edelstein is a good looking woman!

And, yeah, House has now been to second base.

Thriteen's story, with flashbacks, has been touching. I don't get a lot of the hate she has in some fan circles (though I attribute it to simply her being a hot woman.) The House/team and House/Cuddy interactions in this episode has been great, classic, stuff.

Chocolate cake- now that's a cure I could live with! :p

Poor Thirteen.

D'oh! Kutner and Taub killed a patient!

What? AAAAAHHH!! House tricked them! That was awesome. And now Cuddy is going to catch him with the hooker. :(

LOL@ House scaring the hell outta those two! Anal hygiene indeed :guffaw:

Aww...just when House did something nice for Cuddy, it has to go wrong :(

Christmas episode next!

I'm giving this one an Excellent.

Good medical mystery, a return to a more familliar format and an awesome ending -aside from Cuddy catching House with the hooker.

Awesome.

(I kind of was thinking all a long House knew about the website and was pulling something on them, but the results were just too awesome and unexpected.)

Am I the only one thinking they're setting up Foreman/Thirteen?

We can call them Foreteen!

(I think I should copyright that)

Very good episode. :techman: I knew that shallow trainer would refuse the recommended treatment. Better to be known as a fraud than dead, but whatever.

House tricking Kutner with the hooker "patient" was gold.

The desk was a nice touch. I think Cuddy and House will get together eventually- it will be a weird but fun ride.

I wish Olivia Wilde would go back to her natural blonde hair color.

So why didn't K & T make sure the thespian is really dead?

Yeah, I was pretty sure he knew. But that ending was a surprise. I almost jumped. :guffaw:

House comes across to me as someone who would google his own name.

Probably, but at the same time I can't see it coming up along with porn and Sudoku websites. ;)

I didn't know GBP surgery could be revered. Interesting.

And did I see right? Do we get a clinic patient next week?

Oh, and Oliva Wilde looks best with brown hair. ;)

:confused::confused:

Ok. I'm pretty sure I made a poll with this thread. I must've screwed something up and it didn't take.

oy, i didn't know there were nudes of her until googled without safe search, niiiiiiice

oh, and i like the blonde hair too

No poll ?

Excellent episode with great backstory for 13 and the typical great humor though love the desk gift from HOUSE, very sweet.:)

great end twist  and poor Cuddy :(

Groaaannn. You're welcome to take credit -- who else would want to? ;)

House comes across to me as someone who would google his own name.

That would turn up a ton of false hits, though...

(Yeah, yeah, he could search for his full name in quotes. Still...)

House tricking Kutner with the hooker "patient" was gold.

Yeah, but I figured out it was a trick as soon as they got to the morgue. The way the scene was being played and directed was just too light, like a comedy scene rather than a tragic scene; I didn't believe even this show would get that macabre in its attitude.

Although I should've figured it out earlier; I did vaguely think it was an unbelievable coincidence that Kutner's problem patient would just happen to get into the same elevator they were on and mention that she was going to see House.

The desk was a nice touch.

Yeah, it's shocking that he actually did something genuinely and unambivalently nice for Cuddy, and it was a very sweet and romantic gesture. But he still doesn't get it, and uses up those last three hours with the hooker without realizing there's any issue there where Cuddy's concerned.

Anyway, having just recently bought and watched the DVDs of Superman: The Animated Series, it was amusing to note that this episode featured two of that show's villains, Mercy Graves (Lisa Edelstein) and Livewire (Lori Petty, who was the Huntington's patient that made Thirteen so uncomfortable). Odd that Petty got such prominent billing for a no-dialogue role. I assume it's the beginning of a recurring appearance and she'll have more to say later on. Ahh yes, and IMDb confirms she's in next week's episode as well.

Three interwoven plots here, and my favorite was "House pulls one on Kutner and Taub". Sure it wasn't exactly hard to see coming, but their reaction was still beautiful!!!!!

Now, the House/Cuddy plot... was good but it's getting to be almost tortuous. House won't let himself fall for her too far. Every time he gets close, gets vulnerable.. he willingly does something "stupid" to push Cuddy away. The breast grab and crude comment, the staged flirtation with the actress.....

The health plot.... now that was interesting. The patient comes out of this looking ever the hypocrite, at least it seems that way. You can't blame her for wanting to avoid being fat again, but she's given the choice at least. Maybe I can blame her, but I can still feel for her.

Uhh, House made it pretty clear that acting wasn't her regular line of work. And actresses generally get paid by the job, not by the hour. She was a hooker, and I don't think there was anything staged about their interaction.

And I'm not sure House is deliberately pushing her away. His tactlessness isn't entirely an act. He's just not good at relating to people socially. Perhaps because he's kind of Asperger's-like, as many geniuses are, or perhaps because he's never bothered to learn.

I was being facetious in calling the hooker an actress like that, because her purpose in this case was acting. But you may be right about that flirtation. However, my feeling was thinking that as tacky as he could be, I couldn't see him being that risky with his health and career.
