Also loved how House's memories/hypnosis was presented. The "blank faces" the flashing lights outside the bus, the stillness and quietness of it all. Excellent work.
Yeah, I loved the bland presentation, like how the bottles of alcohol had white labels with black lettering that said "Alcohol." The blank faces were perfect.

Oh, did anyone else think tonight's episode was longer than usual? There was no commercial break after the opening titles and it ran for a good ten minutes after that before a break.

It did seem longer, my TiFaux even says the episode was 61 minutes longer. In the past their longer episodes have cut-out the opening title sequence but I guess this time they just cut out commercials, since usualy people complain when Terardrop is removed.(Fantastic opening music.)

If this episode was longer, kudos to them for doing it and keeping the credits. :)

Yeah, I forgot to mention the "generic" labeling on the bottles. Just little details like that, stuff you wouldn't really "remember" in your surroundings.

Well it looks like I'm the lone "Good" voter.
I just couldn't bring myself to vote Excellent because I think the "House Killing himself" storyline is way over played.
I wish there was a "very good" voting option because it was very good/borderline excellent.

I do vote that Cuddy's dance was excellent!!

Definately an Excellent! :techman:

The Amber reveal and the shot of her being hit from the SUV hit was great!

Wilson was suspicious of House drinking at a bar alone ;)

I think they actually said "LIQUOR," which is more in keeping with how House would've seen them. It wasn't a clinical setting; he was there to get wasted, and didn't care which liquor was which.

But it was different this time, because he was killing himself on behalf of someone else, rather than out of general self-flagellation. That was the mystery: why did he care so much about another person to be self-sacrificing?

I think the biggest unanswered question so far was "who am I? What am I wearing?"

Not the bit about the Amber, but who was that actress, and what is she wearing right now? ;)

Oh, yeah, that's right. Thanks for the correction.

Wow, that was just an amazing hour of television. I just finished watching and I haven't yet collected my thoughts. But yeah, I absolutely loved it.

I did figure out that it was Amber House was supposed to save before he did. Too bad it wasn't dr. Hadley (haha, that sounds so funny) doing the striptease though. :D

^ Yeah, that was definitely Ivana Milicevic. I recognized her as soon as she appeared on the screen.

A superlative episode in every way. The writing, the acting, the cinematography (and House has been known for some interesting examples of that) were all phenomenal. Amber suddenly being thrown forward into the camera with the glass breaking behind her was a shocking moment.

Here's hoping Part 2 is just as excellent.

Sucks that it takes House being drunk, concussed/skull fractured, AND emotionally involved, but nice to see that he DOES have a bit of real doctor involved, and a little caring/bedside manner still inside. Referring to the quick actions, the "stay with me" and the care in his voice. He's almost always aloof towards the patients, so it was almost odd to see...

House has shown a human nature plenty of times without being under the influence or presured by anything. And the only reason why he was taking the Vic so heavily, the sensory deprivation and other in this episode was to push his memory. So it's not like it took THOSE events for him to care. Him caring pushed him to those limits.

But in season one there's a couple examples I can think of him risking himself to save his patient. One was (Carly?) played by 24's Nina. He risked his career to see that she got a heart transplant and in "Babies and Bathwater" he was emotive and almost had a decent bedside-manner trying to convince the husband to "kill" his wife in order to save his baby.

So I'd say this House was much more like Season 1's House.

Yeah, House has had many great examples of cinematography but there was just something great about the framing and everything in this episode. Like I said the stuff earlier with how the surrealness of the blandness of the bus in his visions, the cane flying in the air, when the garbage truck hit the bus. Fantastic, fantastic stuff.

Not what i was referring to. I was referring to the last few moments, where they showed him caring for Amber for a moment before the rescue crew got there...

The beating himself up to get the answers, all that was very much the House we all know and love. Crawling to Amber, taking care of the leg, and trying to keep her awake/alive, THAT was a bit off. Not that he doesn't have these capabilities inside him, he just doesn't show them much, if ever, and even when he does, he tries to hide it with a bit of contempt/sarcasm. ;)

This has been nagging me for sometime, but now it has finally clicked. The imagery of House replacing Amber with someone else and following that psychological path with the actions surrounding the false Amber reminds me of what Hawkeye went through in "Goodbye, Farewell, and Amen."

When Cuddy was dancing (and btw oh my god ) I shouted nooooo at the exact same time HOUSE did...

great minds think a like ey

Actually, I don't know about the overall length, but none of the last batch of House episodes has taken a break after the opening credits. I noticed this a couple of weeks ago.

JUst finished the episode and no need for a long review cause simply put...

Best episode of the entire season and easily one of the best episodes of HOUSE. However can the writers throw the fans a bone and just get House/Cuddy together in season 5
