House 6x22 "Help Me" - Discussion and Spoilers

I was 100% sure he was gonna take those pills until Cuddy showed up. Twist ending that's also a happy one.... didn't see that coming.

For those curious about 13 and Olivia Wilde

Olivia Wilde is taking time off from the Fox hit to shoot a starring role in the big-budget sci-fi Western Cowboys & Aliens.

“Olivia will be there at the very beginning of the season, and then she will not be there for a period of time,” explains executive producer Katie Jacobs.

Production on the Jon Favreau-helmed Cowboys — which is set to get under way next month and continue through the summer — is expected to overlap with season 7 of House by at least two months.

Sounds to me like she'll be out for half of next season or so.

^Cuddy ?

Okay, that might have sounded mean, especially seeing as my opinion of Cuddy is about the same as that guy last season with the front brain problem.

I thought this episode was okay. The actual story wasn't all that interesting, if I'm honest. I'm struggling to remember what was actually wrong with the crane driver. I liked the main patient, which is rare for me, though.

I will add my voice to the chorus of praise for how well this episode was shot. I'm amazed at what you can do with a camera that cheap. Then again, I'm amazed at the video I get out of my Panasonic point and shoot too.

Expected an unhappy ending with House hitting the pills again. The ending we got just seems too happy for a guy like him.

But he earned it. He reached out, he connected with Hannah, he really cared about a patient and acted selflessly, and he made a breakthrough confession about how screwed up he'd become because of his leg. He became more human than he's let himself be for six years. After that, I think it's appropriate for the storytellers to let him have a karmic reward.
Sure, I realize that. I just think the character might have learned a bigger lesson by remembering "you can't always get what you want".
I can already guess your reply might be "But if you try sometimes you might find, You get what you need" :p

I'm glad they are doing the relationship. I just think it came a little suddenly with Cuddy turning up like that and admiting her love. But still, nice way to end the season.

If this show ends some day, it needs to end with House laughing an honest, happy laugh, because he stopped being miserable. The character deserves that.

In the first-season's Christmas episode (the one with the nun who had an IUD that caused her to be allergic to copper) there's a montage at the end of the characters' various Christmas Eves events. There's a nice shot of Wilson and House sitting in House's apartment eating Chinese take-out sharing a good, honest, genuine laugh. It's one of few times in the series I can recall seeing House act like a real person and I kind of wish we'd get to share in more moments like that in regular episode narrative. (Rather than in montages like that) So it seems that, although we rarely if ever see it, House does have some "genuine" moments at the very least with Wilson.
