Hoshi versus T'Pol

Well it's true isn't it, there's T'Pol constantly provoking Hoshij for.. what reason? Attention.

It must have been hard for her when the trellium hit and all those feelings really took over.

I was so busy wondering why Reed didn’t put up more of a fuss over Trip that I didn’t think about T’Pol & Hoshi.

Trip didn’t know what to do with Phlox's wife Feezal so I’d guess he would’ve totally been confused by Reed lol.

I studied, worked and lived at many countries, I am still living in abroad. So, I am used to be an "alien" since my early adulthood. I would say, at the very beginning I never thought cultural differences can be a huge issue. Even if you can speak language perfectly, if you don't know good enough about popular culture, history, literature, geography, religion, etc. , you wouldn't understand half of the jokes/gestures of your colleagues. Well, if you couldn't find a solution, you wouldn't be a part of the community or in worst case you will be isolated and surely fail all your targets. I have my experiences and now I became a master for this game. So, I can understand T'Pol's attitude mostly and she is definitely not arrogant for me, her cultural codes are different than the community.
At Broken Bow almost every character is more agitated/aggressive/out of the role than the personalities that we learn at next four seasons. For a pilot episode which is very understandable. Nevertheless, I never get fully, why T'Pol stayed with those bunch of disrespectful, bigheaded space amateurs.
I wish Hoshi's character development was better written. Why should Hoshi must be so weak, so anxious, so girlie girl? She has an academic career, multicultural experiences and we we learnt at the very end, she is not an innocent baby. Why should she act/feel so insecure so long time?

Well it's true isn't it, there's T'Pol constantly provoking Hoshij for.. what reason? Attention.

Maybe she was upset from Hoshi's under performance, unprofessional reactions like me? :wtf: (Well, someone who works in men dominated business, who has to be muuuuuch more better than random male to get the same position, I can totally follow her reactions. I have to admit, as a mentor I am more skeptic about the works of junior female engineers, I know how hard will be their path to success.)

At the ENT Bible they planed for both characters a sister-like relation, why TPTB gave up this idea? Instead of stories done before they should gave us a Hoshi/T'Pol episode. :brickwall:

I am amazed and envious of Hoshi's language skills, but she is a bit boring. I choose T'Pol - she's more visible, interesting... and in general I like Vulcans. :)

Hoshi all day! She's is a dime piece. For me it's Hoshi, Keiko, Sarah Sisko (i wish was in more episodes) & Seven out of all the recurring characters. Yo' they put Jolene Blalock in a cat suit & purposely tried to play down how beautiful Linda Park/Hoshi was. I saw some comment recently, why dose Hoshi look hotter in some episodes. They did that on purpose T'Pol is supposed to be the "hot one" & In that era Star Trek goes out of it's way to perpetuate a eurocentric standard of beauty. Some things i wanted to say about Blalock as T'Pol here but will refrain. Needless to say Physical attractiveness & beauty are subjective but in my opinion Hoshi Sato is the most beautiful female character on Star Trek in the 90s & early 00s period.

Side note I've seen every episode of every Trek series from the 90s early 00s multiple times. I'm trying to get into the newer shows. Lower Decks love for Voyager is cool. Voyager & DS9 are my favorite Treks overall followed by TNG & Enterprise.

- I'm waiting for new season's of Picard, Discovery Etc. But to me the newer shows lack some of the classic aspects of earlier shows. The diversity is one of the only few good things about the new shows so far. I wish they'd do a Trek series that has interesting & diverse characters in a state-of-the-art flagship newest enterprise far from earth exploring new world's & civilizations. An updated Trek that keeps some of the flavor of the original series that you can watch over & over like TNG, DS9, Voyager & even Enterprise as much as i loathe Scott Bakula as Captain Archer but updated. Possibly set 30 years after Voyager & DS9. Not another prequel x years before TOS. A show that gives us developed characters that are interesting to watch & planets with new alien races as well as those we've already seen continued on rather than a Star Wars adjacent 30 min space battle with people you're not that invested in before they're blown out an airlock. If you don't care what happens to a character it's not really Star Trek. That's my time, it's my birthday. Peace

Welcome to the Enterprise forum, Mayzio Jerome, glad to have you here.

We appreciate your enthusiasm for all the Trek shows, but you have resurrected a 2-years-dead thread to enthuse, and we prefer to let very old, fallow threads rest in peace. If you wish to continue your discussion, feel free to start a new thread. You might consider posting in the General Trek Discussion forum, since your post mentioned an entire range of shows.

Happy birthday, and enjoy the board.
